Be an interesting one to see how this pans out, and supported by the supporters trust:

The group were among 51 fans who were allegedly surrounded by police whilst walking to St Andrew's, publicly accused of being hooligans by an officer with a megaphone, detained for more than 90 minutes and then returned to New Street station and put on trains back to Bristol.

Eight of the 10 complainants were issued with dispersal notices under section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Disorder Act but all 10 are claiming false imprisonment and a breach of article five of the European Convention of Human Rights.:

Bristol City fans sue West Midlands Police over breach of human rights

Ten Bristol City fans are suing West Midlands Police for breaching their human rights before a game against Birmingham City in September 2015 in a case that could have wide-reaching implications.

The group were among 51 fans who were allegedly surrounded by police whilst walking to St Andrew's, publicly accused of being hooligans by an officer with a megaphone, detained for more than 90 minutes and then returned to New Street station and put on trains back to Bristol.

Eight of the 10 complainants were issued with dispersal notices under section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Disorder Act but all 10 are claiming false imprisonment and a breach of article five of the European Convention of Human Rights.

Backed by the Bristol City Supporters Club and Trust, the fans served the particulars of claim last week and the force has until February 22 to accept liability and offer compensation or the case will go to civil court.

In a statement released, a West Midlands police spokesperson said: “Court proceedings have been served against the force and we are currently seeking legal advice.”

About time police were held to account for their behaviour towards fans? Other groups get away with murder in name of protest but football fans are still being labelled from the 80s :banghead:

Never thought I'd side with Bristol City fans but my dislike of WMP is so much greater. And all because of the injustice on the concourse at Wolves. How I wish camera phones were around just a few years earlier. It wasn't a few lads being unlawfully detained, it was an outright assault by the WMP.

I should imagine that the courts will say that you should have arrested them and provided the evidence...no case to answer for the fans, Police in the wrong but just like anything else as we have heard in the news lately like not submitting crucial evidence to prove people innocent the will get away with it.

If they accept liability and offer compensation then the flood gates will open and I can see Police refusing to Police anything outside the perimeter of the stadiums.......

They’ve abused laws brought in to fight terrorism to police football fans and compare how they treat street protests to the way we’re treated.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them compromise and drop dispersal orders to worm their way out of the action!

Didnt this happen to some lads a few years back at Huddersfield, when the OB escourted a bunch of Cardiff supporters from the train to the ground,a White horse was driven into the supporters to provoke a reaction,,it was all dropped when a solicitor obtained some CCTV footage that upheld the supporters case
