Final League Table Expectations

Thu Feb 01, 2018 11:15 am

With the transfer window now closed where do you expect City to finish at the end of the season based on the current squad? Have the new signings/outgoings changed your opinion or do you have the same expectations?

same really. no one whos left makes us a weaker team. theres question marks over all the signings but doesnt mean it wont work :bluescarf:

I'm sticking with what I have said all season. Gone for play offs as I think we may just scrape in there if things go our way with injuries and suspensions. For me it had always been a definite top ten finish with a chance of a play off place if we get the rub of the green.

I have to be honest and say I voted outside play-off. Maybe I should of trusted Warnock more because he has an excellent record. Just this form worries me! Lack of ball retention.

We'll still finish 2nd.

I’m happy with the January signings, we need to pick up some form again though. Start of the season I hoped we would be pushing for the playoffs and hope we will be top 6 which would be a big success.

I think at the moment there are 4 better teams than us.

Wolves
Villa
Derby
Fulham

I think we will finish 5th

2nd :ayatollah:
NML and Zohore will hit peak form again,Gunner to come back stronger,Bennet to clean up his act,Jamie Wardto score an own goal and celebrate in front of the city faithful,Madine to batter the back of the net as well as anyone in the same pub as him and Etheridge to find his man on all of his kick outs.
If Carlsberg did Cardiff City
Yes hopefully 2ndbut I’ll take a play off spot

ThomasC, lack of ball retention (turning attack into desperate defence) has been driving me barmy this season! :(

Far too much needless ball given away simply resulting in some desperate defending. Recently, Manga has been amongst the worse when passing out from the back and giving away 'thoughtless' passes straight to the opposition. But there are other culprits that do it further upfield, too! :(

I am hoping for at least play off spot but I shall leave judgement until I see how we do against Leeds and Millwall because after those two games it just gets harder. I think 2nd is beyond us now unless we start banging them in and Villa and Derby drop points.

As you correctly point out Sven, we always seem to lose the ball when you actually think we have a good counter attack going and then it turns into a scramble to get back.

We must beat Leeds and an even harder job will be Millwall who seem to be a good team on the up at the moment considering they had potential relegation written all over them.

The teams around us also need to drop points starting with the carrot crunchers tonight v Bolton....fate has it that Bolton will be lacking a goalscorer tonight!

Onwards and Upwards we can hope :ayatollah: :bluebird:

That’s exactly how I see it especially that aimless ‘parks’ ball up the channels all the time!
I know our style is not heavy possession based and neat and classy passing like some teams in this division but we do need to refrain from losing so much of the ball.
I think we’ll keep in the play offs .... just.

Totally agree Sven. Nobody in the team has the composure of a McPhail or a Kavanagh and it's driving me barmy too. What do they work on in training ?!!

All football experts and computers said we would come 14th but just from the form we had with Neil Warnock arrived and
keeping the players we had and no new I felt we could push for the play offs and still feel we can do play offs but it going to be tough with many teams going for it

This form? Man city aside we drew away to Wednesday, put 4 past Mansfield and 4 past sunderland in our last 3 games. Is that poor for you???

Four points from our last six games is not brilliant. Need to improve on that quickly if we are to keep up our challenge.

Will stick by my original prediction at start of season and that is top half of mid table. Anything else we would be a bonus and there are stronger sides in the division and there are sides who have gambled by spending big.

Something tells me this season was all about consolidating and excepting that there are sides that will have to fire sale if they don’t get promoted and could with further strengthening could see us push on.

This season is one of the strongest for a good few seasons IMo.
