Armand Traore has won five caps for Senegal

Cardiff City have completed the signing of Armand Traore on a free transfer, subject to Football League clearance.

The 28-year-old, who has played for Arsenal and Juventus during his career, made 18 appearances for Nottingham Forest this season before his release.

Senegalese international Traore was booked during Cardiff's 2-0 win against Forest at the City Ground in November.

The left-back played under Neil Warnock when he was at Queens Park Rangers between 2010 and 2012.

Traore is set to make his debut against Leeds United this Saturday following Joe Bennett's red card in Cardiff's 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Cardiff chief executive Ken Choo said: "We (Cardiff and Forest) submitted the paperwork but we are awaiting clearance from the Football League."

Cardiff have now made five signings in 2018, including deadline-day signings Gary Madine and Jamie Ward, the latter in a loan-swap deal with Nottingham Forest for Lee Tomlin.

Other deadline-day departures included goalkeeper Lee Camp to Sunderland on-loan and striker Omar Bogle's move to Peterborough United on loan until the end of the season.

Choo added that owner Vincent Tan - based in Malaysia - was heavily involved in the deadline day activity.

Choo said: "Vincent was up throughout the night and was regularly on the phone.

"He has invested in the players and backed our manager Neil Warnock. Without Vincent Tan this would not have happened."

Strange bit of business this, not sure if I like it, released by Forest a team who are mid table / relegation wise and we're signing their players left right and centre.

Never rated this guy, Warnock knows him well so hopefully does the bizz

They have just had a new manager and needed to free up wages.

We do need another specialist left back for when Bennett is missing. Peltier and Richards are best at right back so it makes sense.

Warnock knows him well from QPR days. Could be a good signing. Bennett needs competition.

Have to agree, 2 good players in every position

I’m hoping he’s just been brought in on emergency cover on small wages. He just makes too many mistakes.

Remember our second goal scored by Ralls at Forest last season?

Not overly impressed. Not good enough for a struggling team. Hope he does not paly unless absolutely necessary. JLloyd Samuel springs to mind.

Just another Halford type of signing. Warnock just cannot resist signing his old players.

Bennett was a free from a side who had struggled.

Have got to agree with that! He wants to win promotion with players that are 'his type' then they can meet up in 10years and talk about it. One can consider one preference to his type being tagged and curfewed :o :laughing6:

Well if he makes a mistake on his debut I’m sure you’ll add him to your list of scapegoats even before the ink is dry.
Pathetic.

What list of scapegoats? How stupid are you?

Armand Traore has proven for years he’s a pacey full back with a good engine, but he isn’t the most solid or reliable full back defensively. Hopefully, that will change under Warnock and he will cut his mistakes down.

Norms you saw how late City were last night about 3hrs behind me putting it out

They are usually 24hrs later than clubs like Crewe/Colchester in putting their DVP match reports out

And prob will be 24hrs later than the BBC with this signing
