Bad transfer window? Yeh right

Thu Feb 01, 2018 8:20 am

We’ve got rid of a crocked goalie and a midfield player who never plays more than the odd cameo due to poor fitness etc.
We’ve got a proven goal scorer at champ level (a target man - something we’ve not had at the club this season) plus a young Serbian midfielder who should be fine, a winger who looks the part, and Ward who I’m not a fan of but now he’s ours he’ll get my support.
Am I missing something as I think that’s ok

People still wiping the tears away because we didn't get Grabbon that's all.

Maybe I'm on my own here but I'd take Madine over Grabban every time

Grabban was the better option for many here due to more proof he can do the job at this level. Madine might well do the job but I think we have vastly over paid

I wanted jack colback or at least someone like him.

Probably could have done with another striker as not sure Pilkington and Healy are the answers

Maybe your right about grabban but how do you make him cone here? he obviously played the system and went to a bigger club like he wanted not sure club could do anything about it. But time will tell how good windows been.

yeah im not criticising the club, but you can be generally disappointed without pointing fingers. The figures quoted for madine do smack of desperation however

2 million aint nothing for a striker in the championship

I'm quite happy with the window as a whole, I think Madine in a strange way will make Zahore a better player, good cover now at left back, I think Gruij will get better than we've seen to date, Yanik Widshuit looks like he will add something and Tomlin now has a chance to get himself fit and will still be our player to decide what to do with him next season. I agree that Jamie Ward is not everyones cup of tea but there is a reason for that, he's not liked by most as he has always wound our fans up usually after scoring against us, I know he's no spring chicken anymore but I believe he will offer us an option from the bench that with out the other ward we are missing.

Sorry Wez, you’re wrong. The Bolton chairman has issued a statement and said we’ve paid close to the asking price of 6m and the bit that surprised me was it was all paid upfront with no add ons. I feel we’ve paid too much for him

I would be very surprised if true.
wouldn't be the first chairman to lie

I’ve started another thread with the statement from the Bolton chairman.

THe individual player isn’t necessarily the important bit but if Warnock can fit them in to a team and improve the team as a whole.

We have a team which has been solid on the whole but lacks strength in depth to maintain high intensity performances. We now have options in all positions with players who are experienced at our level and one with consistent goal scoring form right now.

Will they go up? No idea. But we didn’t know what bamba and Hoilett would bring to the party but they have gone on to be he first names on the team sheet.

Tomlin was not contributing to the team that is now in the top places of the league with a game in hand. No doubt about his quality but he wasn’t fit and didn’t look like he was going to get fit.

Bogle dropped below pilks and we have added 2 more players in their general positions.

Camp hasn’t played at all. We have off loaded 3 players that even if we didn’t have before probably wouldn’t have affected our position much.

Warnock wants us to go up. He wants us to do well and we HAVE done well against all predictions. I’m happy to trust him. He is decisive. If a decision or signing isn’t working he moves them on. Rather than let’s them fester in the development side with no way back unti we pay them off to leave. He has made a couple of signings that haven’t set the world alight but where are they now? I don’t classify Halford in that. He does exactly what he was brought in to do.

Grabban was never the better option when the player moves the goal posts for greed. You don't want players there for money only.
