Match of the day - double standards

Wed Jan 31, 2018 11:39 pm

If you haven’t seen it, worth watching the Man City highlights.

Completely ignore what looked like a stamp by Fernandinho whilst another player was on the ground.
They then say, suppose it’s only fair to show a Silva tackle - late and over the top, connecting about 1/3 of the way up the shin. They call it a bit naughty and probably just mistimed.

...and funnily enough they only ask Pep about the smart Phillips tackle.

Poor, very very poor.

Man City and pep live in from the media right now. Personally thought they were boring to watch at times on Sunday

Moreover on Ref Watch with Dermott Gallagher on Sky Sports he said in all seriousness that only Fernadinho knew if he meant to stamp on the player on the ground. Pardon? Where's punishing the offence gone in all this? Why don't the media adopt the same logic for EVERY bad challenge. It seems that partiality and not the Laws of the Game that applies these days. More importance is placed on who commits a challenge than what's done.

I thought Man City were great in the first half their football was quick and inventive. They had the game won by half time and Cardiff were not willing to chase the game they were only interested in keeping the score down. I agree the second half was tedious but by that time it was up to Cardiff to attack.
