MADINE LATEST

Wed Jan 31, 2018 10:40 am

Bolton stalled on deal for Feyenoord striker Kramer. He's not in the Feyenoord squad for today but several reports suggest a move to Bolton may not be completed - this will in turn mean Madine will unlikely be joining us today. :|

With reports we were offering 6 mill for Gary, I'm glad, he's not worth anywhere near 3 mill let alone 6 mill.

This is a guy who's got a bad boy image, likes a scrap and hasn't been consistent scoring throughout his career.

Thing is if he fires us to the Prem, £6m is chips. But if we don't go up, it's going to look very silly and I doubt we'll get over £1.5m back for him.

Even if you believe the 'up to £6m' figure that was quoted last night - and ignore the Bolton denials this morning that any Cardiff bid has been accepted - how much do you honestly think we would pay up front? I have no better idea than you but my guess is that over half of the quoted figure would be dependent on promotion and a bucketful of goals scored. Like the Tomlin fee, there are usually unrealistic add ons that the selling club can claim as part of the number to pacify their own fans. It's all smoke and mirrors. I am confident that we will not pay £6m up front for Gary Madine even if/when a bid is accepted.

No I agree, £6m up front is daft. 100% will be add ons taking the deal up to £6m. But I literally wouldn't even pay half of it for him (including add ons). But it's NW, if we get promoted, it's peanuts. Given the talked about fees, I'd take McGoldrick over Madine. But much prefer Grabban, obviously.

I've not seen any actual quotes from Bolton themselves denying they've accepted any bids for Madine. The deal seems to be hinged on whether they can bring a replacement really.

This has a wiff of a Tomlin deal about it.Bolton need the dosh but don't wanna upset their fans so 6m will be the headline but like the Tomlin deal we'll have to wait for the real details.
