Transfer talk: Cardiff City set to beat Fulham to the signing of former Sunderland loan man
West London Presss
Monday 29th Jan 2018
Cardiff City look set to win the race for reported Fulham target Lewis Grabban.
The 30-year-old Bournemouth striker was linked with a move to Craven Cottage in this January transfer window, although manager Slavisa Jokanovic refused to comment on links with the forward when questioned on him last month.
And it looks as if the Bluebirds are going to sign the striker before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.
Grabban scored 12 goals in 19 Championship appearances on loan for an ailing Sunderland this season, before his loan deal was cut short at the frontman's request.

It's dragging on for some reason, I wonder if Bournemouth are still trying to get someone in and won't let him go until they do, or is it the price, or upfront/installments agreements ?

All these links with Grabban ,I do wonder if they are all just jumping on the original online rumour or if there genuinley is anything in it and warnock is playing a very good game with these agents . Time will tell i suppose but if we ever needed a proven front man now is the time

Three replacements for Lewis Grabban at Bournemouth including this Chelsea Starlet as Cardiff City close in
Bournemouth striker, Lewis Grabban is close to a move away from the Vitality Stadium with Cardiff City in pole position to land his services.
The 30-year-old returned to his parent club after serving a loan spell with Sunderland in the first half of the season. The forward requested for his loan spell to be cut short for uncertain reasons but most likely over the current conundrum the Black Cats are stuck in.
Grabban has been in prolific form this season before hitting an injury snag during the Christmas period. He has netted an impressive 12 goals in 20 appearances for the Black Cats and was the only attacking threat for the side. However, with the club in danger of being relegated to League One by the end of the season, Grabban did not wish to go down with the side.
Bournemouth are currently overstacked in the striker department with the likes of Joshua King, Benik Afobe, Callum Wilson, Lys Mousset and Jermain Defoe. However, none of the strikers are really firing on all cylinders and Eddie Howe can fill in Grabban’s wage bill with another motivated attacker.
Charly Musonda
Not a striker by trade but more suited to the wing position. Musonda’s stint with Chelsea has been far from ideal with the 21-year-old growing more and more frustrated on the benches. He was a bright spark at Real Betis last season before going down to an unfortunate injury.
With bags of skill to choose from, Musonda is a versatile option both from the flanks as well as an attacker. He will bring a different dynamic to the Cherries attack and can be brought in as a rotational option behind Ryan Fraser.
Sammie Szmodics
Colchester United striker, Sammie Szmodics who has scored 12 goals for the League Two side this season. The 22-year-old has been in prolific form for the U’s and is a key part of their promotion battle to League One. He has been linked to a move away to Vitality Stadium.
Andre Green
He plies his trade for EFL Championship side, Aston Villa and mainly operates from the left wing, capable of cutting inside with the dominant right foot. His balance and dribbling abilities make him a nightmare to defend against and have earned him a first-team spot under Steve Bruce over the past year. He has appeared in 30 games for the club and registered 4 goals and 4 assists.
Not the most remarkable scoring numbers but clearly he is good enough to play in the senior side and is also just 19 years old.

Selling clubs like to wait until last minute to make sure they get the best deal and that they can release them

There has never been any strong evidence to link Grabban with Cardiff City other than a few so called ITK who frankly are not even close to the truth.
I think if we do then we may well sign somebody who has not been linked or not from these shores.

That Alan Nixon has gone quiet on the Grabban position.
last week Grabban was having a medical and it was all but done.

Other posters on here also claimed he was going to sign on Friday, not just Nixon.
Seems unlikely now. Tan has buggered off with his case of dirty givers.

Fulham are signing Watford striker on loan so hopefully that makes them lose interest in grabban if we ever decide to get this over the line

Smells to me he might be holding out for something better to come in if it’s going to the wire

Funny how every other club in the championship who are in the market for a proven striker are linked with everyone bar Grabben.. maybe just maybe theres more to it than just online rumours ...

We're obviously trying to squeeze a bargain and either grabbon and/or Bournemouth are holding out for a much bigger swoop. Standard January drama. Don't hold your breath on this one!

Daily Mirror reported it earlier aswell, interestingly they claim it will be a loan deal rather than a permanent deal.
CARDIFF HOPEFUL OF LANDING GRABBAN
Neil Warnock is set to bolster his Cardiff attack by landing Lewis Grabban on loan from Bournemouth.
Striker Grabban was recalled from his loan spell at Sunderland earlier this month with Bournemouth hoping to move him on permanently.
But he is poised for another Championship loan spell, this time at promotion-chasing Cardiff.
Grabban, 30, scored 12 goals in 20 appearances for the Black Cats.
