CITY PLAYER SUBJECT OF VILE ON-LINE ABUSE AFTER TACKLE

Cardiff City's Joe Bennett the target of vile online abuse following tackle on Manchester City's Leroy Sane

The Bluebirds man saw yellow for a late challenge on the Man City winger

Cardiff City defender Joe Bennett has been the subject of vile abuse following his nasty looking challenge on Manchester City attacker Leroy Sane.

Bennett only saw yellow for a late, studs-up tackle on the rampaging German at the end of the first half in the FA Cup fourth-round tie at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The incident has drawn criticism from pundits and the German FA, who tweeted their Cardiff counterparts , warning them about injuring one of their players ahead of this summer's World Cup.

"When we see it on the replay it's naughty, it's nasty and high," Alan Shearer said on Match of the Day Live.

Danny Gabbidon added "It's a straight red. There's no place for that in the game," while Joleon Lescott labelled it "childish and immature".

Pep Guardiola confirmed that Sane would be out for some time in his post-match press conference, and while the German FA's tweet had a hint of the tongue-in-cheek about it, the online flak Bennett is now receiving does not.

Fans, mainly of a Man City persuasion, have responded to a Bennett tweet from January 25, with many using language of an inappropriate nature.

Bennett later saw red in the game against City, picking up another yellow for a late challenge on Brahim Diaz right at the death.

"I said many times, the only thing they (referees) have to do is protect the players, I can accept the goal, but please protect the players," said Guardiola after the game.

"They have to protect players, not just Man City players, their players too. This is all a referee can do.

"It happened once and then it happened with Raheem (Sterling) again at the end.

"Please, for football in general, the players are the artists. The only thing the can do is to protect them."

Neil Warnock had a differing view. He said: “They’re so quick, that’s the problem. With the movement and everything else, you think you’re there and all of a sudden he’s gone.

“But I was disappointed he got sent off at the end – obviously he doesn’t want to go to Leeds next weekend, because it was an absolutely pathetic challenge when on a booking.

"To do something like that I think is disrespectful to team-mates.”

There were lots who didn't!

One group in 117 (not regulars, as the seats are usually empty) walked out after 38 minutes only to return 10 minutes into the second half before leaving again after 80 minutes

It was like watching Mother Duck with her little Ducklings as they all followed the lead. Quite a few disparaging (but funny) comments from the regulars around them and some embarrassed looks on one or two! :laughing6:

Just a missed time challenge.

Besides it was all the Man City players fault because he was too damn quick. It would have been a perfect tackle if he slowed down a bit.

The referee booked him for it , that should be the end of it.
If citeh don't want to get tackled misstimed or not, perhaps they should play a team of manaquins.
Sane didn't go off after the tackle , he played on probably aggravated the injury .
So that's down to the citeh medical staff not taking him off straight away.
JB is not a dirty player, it was an accident end off.
The amount of play acting ,rolling around etc after any contact by the Citeh players was unbelievable.

Let's hope whoever has posted any threatening on twitter, twatter or whatever these ridiculous social media sites are called I hope a member of the plod comes knocking on their door. I would say that is more of a threat than a mistimed tackle. Oh and I hope Joe doesn't get effected by all this shit after he completes his ban.

Football player makes mistimed tackle - SHOCK HORROR STORY OF THE CENTURY.

I used to put in tackles like this every week when I played. It was my favourite part of the game!

Re: CITY PLAYER SUBJECT OF VILE ON-LINE ABUSE AFTER TACKLE

Mon Jan 29, 2018 8:12 pm

It’s terrible to target anyone after a bad tackle - I wouldn’t like to think players would go out to injure another professional on purpose, but we live in the media world, he was trying to get back got his timings wrong and caught him unfortunately on a bad area, but in no way did he mean to hurt him, he was trying to take one for the team, it’s his job.

The commentary doesn’t help it just fuels them and if your a fan of a team up in the top echelons in English football apparently your allowed to abuse players or fans because your the authority on football when the reality is a lot of these prawn sandwich eaters know very little on football. Enrages me, money can by you a decent team not fan knowledge or superiority over other sides.
