“ Joe Bennett’s tackle / match highlights “

Sun Jan 28, 2018 7:21 pm

Below is the picture of Joe Bennett’s tackle on Leroy Sane, as well a link to the match highlights.

I didn’t think it was too bad at the time, but this shows it was dreadful. Should have been a straight red.

A straight red for me as well. Just seen it, a dreadful tackle. No doubt Tonteg will say it was a fair challenge that did'nt even warrant a free kick. ;)

How long is he banned for? He’s a liability week in week out. If him being banned means we find a place for Paterson, then great. Get well soon Sane.

awful challenge. Absolutely livid with him for being so stupid and getting a needless red card at the end. shocking decision and I hope NW has given him an absolute bollocking for it.

Tackles and contact are part of sport, it happens. Get over it.

And on another thread you accused people of knowing nothing about the game. If you think that sort of tackle is acceptable, makes me wonder how much you know about the game. Just been watching the BBC programme which I recorded. The pundits on there who have played at the highest level certainly don't agree with your view.

Spot on with that. If the photo above looks bad, it looks just as bad, even worse on the tv. Studs showing, high tackle and a potential leg breaker. Everyone in the studio including Gabbidon said straight red. If someone thinks this is part of the game, that's the person who is brain dead when it comes to football.

Not saying it's an acceptable challenge, it's a rash challenge and it is a red card but it's happened it's done now you can't change it..

These sorts of incidents happen every week, you can't stop it.. you just have to move on.

Football and in deed Rugby is a contact sport, but of course Rugby gets away with all sorts, and if Cardiff City played there last match that would decide to go into the Premier League, then big tackles like that would have to happen to stop the player from scoring, does anyone know why Bamba did not play?

Closest this guy gets to a Cardiff city match is obviously when he’s playing in his bubble bath

KO

Steve have you ever watched football in the 80s or 90s even 00s? Full of meaty challenges - I would say that’s bennett didn’t mean that and he just got his angles all wrong, we’ve all watched him and he’s been solid for us all season. I don’t think anyone is saying we want to see leg breaking tackles but we do want passion and body on the line defending as would any football fan. Now Sane was hurt but how many times have you seen similar tackles where a player has played roly poly on the pitch in an attempt to con a red? How many times have you seen poor defenders frequently make bad tackle over bad tackle and put their teams in to poor positions. It happens people get bad luck, bad games, it’s not meant but on this occasion it’s happened and people want to back a reliable part of our team
