I Don't Believe It

Firstly let me state I am a season ticket holder and have been supporting the City since 1966. In addition, I think Warnock has done a great job since he arrived here and he deserves all the plaudits and thanks. He has transformed the club for the better in so many ways.
However - I am gutted with the transfer business and don't believe in what is being said by the club. Last January Warnock said we needed new recruits and some would be arriving - nobody did and the reasons given were It's hard to do do business at this time of year. Yet others did. This year despite our awful injuries we have managed to compete but Warnock himself said we were desparate for another midfielder - as all supporters know - as Gunnarson has been a huge miss. It was also agreed by all that a striker was needed. This has been going on all month and still no recruits!!! Yes we have signed 2 - a midfield loanee - who is hardly the battle hardened dynamo we need and a winger/striker from a fellow championship club who they do not want, who is not match fit and and who has a very poor goal scoring record. Warnock said today that it will go to the wire. But will it really? I don't think so. Neither do I believe that it is that difficult to get players in this transfer window if you really want them. There have been many dealings this month and a number of them have been with our promotion rivals. We were also told the money was there so please stop the smoke screen and building up hopes only for transfer deadline day to come and then say we couldn't get one over the line in time. The danger signs are already there. Zahore is still a young man and is not yet good enough - although I am sure he will develop in time. We are now told that we will keep Pilkington. Yet he has been deemed not good enough all season. Yes he has scored 2 recently - one a tap in against Sunderland. We all know he is not a forward. What happens if Zahore is injured? Why don't we just stop messing about scrimping and saving and just get a player like Grabban now. McGoldrick is a journeyman and no better than Pilkington, Bogle and Healey.
We habe a chance for promotion thisyear. But we need Gunnarson back asap and a quality striker. I am so disappointed with our transfer dealings. No doubt a number will say what a negative post. However it is meant to show I really care and I do believe Warnock is doing a brilliant job. But I do believe that by transfer deadline day no significant transfer will be completed.
Finally. What the heck did we sign Feeney for? What a waste of wages bearing in mind the players we have now who can play wide.

A lot to digest in there but one thing I will disagree with you is you cannot go and get the player you want in the January window. If you go for a player rated 10 count yourself lucky if you end up with a 5.

To me it seems last January Warnock forfited singing to allow him to bring in player the following summer as early as possible, that summer we did good work.

This Jan we have brought in two players, both cost big money in the last year or so and we have just paid a loan fee, ideal January work. Only a striker to come now.

I think everyone knows you don't get value in January, the best managers will spent as little as possible trying to fill the gaps.

I'm more than happy with our January signings so far.

There's been very little in way of big transfers in championship in fact there's been very little activity full stop! clubs don't have the money to buy over inflated prices in January preferring to save their money for summer :old:
