Cardiff City transfer update as Neil Warnock reveals 'four or five' strikers on Bluebirds' radar
By Dominic Booth

WARNOCK CONFIRMS IT WILL BE WEDNESDAY NIGHT WHEN HE CAN CONFIRM THE SIGNING.

Friday 26th Jan 2018

Cardiff City have been in talks with "four or five strikers", according to Neil Warnock as he revealed his hopes to secure a signing in the next few days

He also confirmed he wouldn't allow Anthony Pilkington to leave the club this month, as Danny Ward's long-term injury leaves Cardiff short of forward options.

When asked about Grabban and McGoldrick, Warnock revealed his transfer search would go down to the wire - with perhaps more than one new arrival to come after this weekend's huge FA Cup tie against Manchester City.

"I would like a couple, we desperately need a striker with Wardy out for the season," he said.

"It's depending on if we lose anybody. You don’t know in football, you might lose somebody.

"It’ll be Wednesday night when we get the signing in, it’s a nightmare for a manager but at least we haven’t got a game like last year when we were on the bench trying to do a deal!"

Reports have claimed Cardiff are ready to pay a fee to land either Grabban or McGoldrick on permanent deals, with the Bournemouth star available for an estimated £4million and McGoldrick a cut-price option at £500,000.

But Warnock is refusing to count any chickens with lots of negotiation still to be done before the January 31 deadline.

He is, however, adamant Pilkington will remain a Cardiff player, despite reported interest from Bolton Wanderers among others.

The Yorkshireman added: "We’ve spoken about four or five strikers and we’re hopeful of getting one in by Wednesday.

"We’re not any further down the line with any of them, and I imagine it’ll be the same with most teams.

"If the worst came to the worst, we won’t sign anyone but the plus is Pilkington playing so well he’s come right into the reckoning.

"At the minute, I’m looking at him as the replacement for Danny Ward.

"We’ll then need another striker in to top it up, but I won’t be letting Pilkington go at the moment."

Agents touting their players around for the best offer, wouldn't be surprised we don't sign anybody.

Same old City :laughing5:

I'm disappointed with some of the comments made by Warnock particularly when he said that we may end up not bringing anyone in at all but what really stands out for me is that anyone on here who says they are in the know and we will be signing this player and that player should be totally ignored and just see what has transpired at the end of the transfer window

I've been saying the same thing for ages. Will all happen again in the Summer when we will be linked with every player in the country, and if they all sign for us the other 71 clubs outside the PL won't have anyone left to play for them.
I have even noticed threads where people are naming our potential side for the rest of the season which include players who are not Cardiff City players and are never likely to be either. May as well name Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar in our team, they are just as likely to come here as some as the other names mentioned. ;)

It's brilliant how people are latching to what he says.

He ain't going to come out and say yeah Grabban or McGoldrick are on their way, he is not that type of manager.

People are genuinely gonna latch on to this now and think he is telling the truth, that's the good thing about Warnock he keeps things close to his chest.

If anyone is gonna believe this then they don't know Warnock at all.

Angelis 1949 hit the nail on the head with his comments. Say no more until we see the photo and the guy with the blue shirt. We just have to be patient.
