People who support other clubs such as Man U or liverpool

Fri Jan 26, 2018 12:00 pm

What you have to remember is that at a time when both of these clubs were doing well - 80's 90's etc where were we? And also clubs that have big support now - Leeds Newcastle for example - where were they then? (In the same division on and off). A football fan from Leeds is more likely to support their local club if they are doing well and not be swayed to support other clubs because they were playing against these big Giants on a regular basis). they were in the same division for quite a while. of course people went on the Man U bandwagon during the 90's who were from Cardiff. We were a small local club in the lower divisions. Man U were all over the football news. And of course many fans who supported these clubs such as Leeds and Newcastle at the time have continued. Likewise with fans who followed Liverpool or Man U in the 90's who were from Cardiff. On the plus side this means that - with a period of sustained success fans will stick (with Cardiff) and younger fans will grow up reading and seeing things all Cardiff. Man U or Liverpool or Man city as it is now will be just another club who are doing well but in the same league. I believe give us a good period of sustained success all be it in the bottom half of the premier league - our fan base will grow and new fans will grow up supportingI g us as oppose to the bigger giants.
I guess the long and short is success will grow our club fan base which I'd thought wud be obvious but not to some people it's not!

Our fan base HAS grown.

From averaging 7,000 in 2001 to 19,000 as we speak that's an increase of 12,000 in 16 years so we are 100% moving in the right direction, although arguably it could and maybe should be better.

Nobody under the age of 19/20 will realistically remember Cardiff City playing in anything other than the top 2 Divisions in this country and have witnessed 4 Wembley appearances including competing in the finals of England's two cup competitions.

I used to argue that our crowds were not to bad but when you factor in the above and how cheap it is for youngsters that place should be packed out with kids, teenagers and young adults, where are they all?

Where do the club actually advertise???,I don't see any posters around town, hardly anything on the radio,do they give any tickets out to the schools anymore?,there is so much more the club could do to attract new fans to the club

i think our crowds are reasonable..and tbh i dont think one off occasions builds a fan base.top tier football does.Skiprat keeps beating this drum and quite seriously if you spend time looking at the facts and figures you can not argue his conclusions..
all bar 1 of the many clubs averaging more than ourselves in this division have spent more time in the top tier than ourselves...the 1.? Bristol are playing in a ground thats had a recent refurb ,have spent more than they ever have and are having their most exciting season in about 40 years.

I no loads of Liverpool man u etc fans and almost all of them love there clubs but have never been to watch them instead the arm chair will do.

People follow success ive always loved the underdog myself to easy supported a team that wins all the time.

Also these people call themselves proud Welshman but support English clubs hundreds of miles away .

I fully believe just my own opinion that that you should support your local club its where your from and it brings extra meaning and passion as its your town or city.

Cardiff will always be playing catch up to the top successful clubs with people from are area supporting these clubs just because they are good. Then there kids follow Dad and it continues. Its always something that annoys me buy its there choice as much as I hate it.
Ccfc fighting a loosing battle .

If the local fans support these pieces of shit they can all f**k OFF as far as I am concerned. Only want the glory. Mind you Liverpool haven't won much lately have they :laughing6:

I have a friend who is a Liverpool fan, born in Cardiff lives in Cardiff and always happy to talk about the city but doesnt support them.

I asked him why he doesnt support Cardiff when he was born here. his answer was why should where I was born which I had no control over decide what team I support. He said he feels a genuine connection to Liverpool their values (really?) and traditions as a club. He goes to some games and supports them and thats his choice.

People free to make their own choice.

When you follow what your father/family members do at a young age it’s fairly had to stop and just support someone else

I've been saying this for a long time. What's the point in dropping ticket prices a bit if you don't bother to tell anyone? The Club is lazy and makes no serious effort to market themselves within their catchment area. I've even written to them with ideas on what type of thing they should be considering but they couldn't even bother to reply. A lot more could be done by the Club to improve attendances. :bluescarf:

Same for me. Went to Radyr Comp in the 80s and there were a couple of us that supported ccfc. Rest were scousers and manc fans. No matter how crap city were I was there and despite having the piss taken out of me relentlessly I still went. I despise glory hunting fans who support a team that they have no emotional connection with.

Thing is your mate will be held in absolute contempt by genuine Scouse Liverpool Fans and I have to say I share that. Cardiff/South Wales boys should support Cardiff. London, Liverpool or Manchester clubs have fekk all to do with you and you can stick as many stickers as you want on your cars, wear replica strips or worst of all call yourselves Manc or Scouse, that won’t change. It’s been said football is the last bastion of community spirit Cardiff are the South Wales Club and deserve support from the South Wales public.

WTF is a Scouse or Manc fan, these terms refer to geographical locations and have nothing to do with football.

There were quite a few city fans at Radar in the early/mid 80s , bloody loads of Liverpool fans though.
