' 40,000 CROWD / IT COULD OF BEEN '

Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:13 pm

Just been speaking to the CCFC ticket staff :bluebird:

This Wednesday morning Cardiff City Sold out 4 days before (33,000) the Manchester City FA CUP 4th Rd home game, live on Sky,4pm kick off and a Sunday.

They say demand was so high, they reckon Cardiff City could of sold at least 40,000 tickets :thumbright: :bluebird: :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Very very impressed :thumbright: :thumbright: and so all the excuses on here on why City get low crowds go well out the window :thumbright: :thumbright:

As the game is live on Sky, its a Sunday, kick off 4pm, thousands had to go down the stadium and queue and some for hours, plus others had to buy on-line like any other game. Also don't forget its January, many skint and the weather is cold and transport won't be great.

Also Man City are only bringing 3,765 fans, so we are not depending on their support to get a fantastic crowd :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Plus rem the Leeds United home game, many weeks before said its a Tuesday night, its cold, its live on Sky etc etc, City had a 27,000 plus crowd :thumbright: :bluebird:

I am over the moon with those two crowds :thumbright: :thumbright:

My point is,if people really want to go to the Cardiff City Stadium, all the usual excuses on here are virtually a load of rubbish :thumbright: :bluebird:

Its All about the opposition.

It's no surprise, if people want to go then they will find the money.

Funny thing is this will probably lose a floaters from the next game who can't afford them both.

It just proves the point. We can get big crowds for the big games. We don't have enough committed fans to watch us versud Barnsley, Preston etc...

Premiership will deliver sell out season tickets!

You've answered your own question really annis? People don't go because don't want to unless it's worth going! But Doesn't mean there are not valid reasons for not going like financial, personal reasons ect ect there just needs incentive like success to get floating fans in,

40,000?
It’s time to build another tier over the Family stand then I think!

If we were in the Premier League now, we would have a bigger capacity than 11 of the teams there already, (although only a few hundred more than Leicester and Southampton)

Southampton
Leicester
Brighton
Stoke
West Brom
Huddersfield
Burnley
Swansea
Watford
Bournemouth

I already know at least 10 people, I call them people as not fans in my opinion, have tickets and have not stepped in the Cardiff City stadium since our last home game in the Premier League.

Replies on fb

Darren Stevens:

Very interesting, but what would the crowd have been if we had been playing Bolton home in the league on Sat 3pm?

Ryan Walters;

That's pathetic. Because there's a full stadium Sunday where have most of those fans been this season?

It would be a lot more if it was not for the re-brand.

This is how it should be.

I think that if Cardiff go up, I think Vincent Tan would consider another new stand to increase the fan base and sell out every game at home.

Just hope it is not red :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Can't Wait to do this

The answer is, fans have turned up to enjoy the occasion.
They know there will be a great atmospher and are willing to pay for it.

I wonder how many people around me will be referring to our players by their numbers.

I overheard someone behind me at the Newcastle game last season say "that number 7 is pretty good"

That said I hope we play well and they come back, it gets terribly cold around where I'm sat normally due to all the empty seats.

My only worry is that when we get more through the door they instantly turn on the abuse of the boys, also the atmosphere isn’t as cauldron like as you’d want it to be if anything it takes a step back from a usual match day. I hope we as fans turn up on Sunday a wall of noise

Neil, I think it was...! ;) :laughing6:

It's a bit of an odd one is this game, as it's great that the stadium is a sell-out (apt term) but sad that so many people (many of whom haven't attended the CCS for years or maybe not at all) have finally proven that the bile many have spouted for their non attendance has been blown out of the water!

I take the Mick in a friendly way out of Blue Lagoon (there are lots of others like him) and he is a classic. On here after we drew lowly Mansfield in the 3rd round and telling us how he wouldn't be going and how he thought (well after he agreed to the conditions) they should be added to his season ticket for free. He's going to the game and undoubtedly he's paid for a ticket, so how does that now make him look?

Sadly, not untypical of many and I can't stand here and not mention some of my own City supporting friends; many of whom declined to attend the Mansfield game for reasons that ultimately added up to "We couldn't be bothered!"

Lots of hypocrites will be at this game but whisper it carefully; they might get 'prickly' for pointing to out! ;) :laughing6:

Nah, Ian is a good guy and no buffoon but he firmly believes the rebrand was a massively divisive error, which resulted in many former 'die-hard' fans 'giving up' on their club and others (the Remoaners) not being able to 'let it go' even though they stayed. It's hard to disagree with he basics of what he believes of the original rebrand but it's been done, it's been corrected and the majority (including Vincent Tan, who continues to bank roll and improve the club no matter what his underlying motivation) have moved on in the best interests of the club they continue to love ;)
