" Biggest home crowd since? "

Help me out, been watching city 31 years and this will be biggest in my time. So city fans when was the last crowd that eclipsed the crowd we will get Sunday?

Embrace fellow city fans, the ccs will be rocking come 4pm Sunday. I hear the comments that people are only coming to watch Man City, a few maybe but the majority are coming to watch a big event, a great occasion with a cracking atmosphere and clinging to a glimmer of hope that their team Cardiff city can cause an upset.

Hereford home in 1976 was 35,000, last time we had a crowd nearly as good as that :thumbright: :bluebird:

Probably Everton or Spurs in the FA cup, or Hereford depending on how many were really there and who you believe. All 3 in the mid 1970s.

The Everton FA cup 5 th round game, 26 Feb 1977 was over 35.582, slightly more than the Hereford game of 35501 the season before. This was the last time City had a registered crowd of over 30.000.

Absolutely agree. I am as well.
What’s wrong in wanting to watch the opposition? I also went to the Mansfield game but didn’t really go to watch them!

I think we'll find this Man City gate is the biggest Cardiff home FA Cup crowd since we lost 2-1 to Everton in the fifth round in February 1977. There was around 35000-36000 at Ninian Park that day - we had beaten Tottenham 1-0 and Wrexham 3-2 in the third and fourth round.

Tony Evans gave Cardiff the lead against a Toffees team that included our old boss Dave Jones.

Wasn't even alive last time we had a bigger crowd than this.

One things’s certain, it will smash the record attendance for a Cardiff City match at Cardiff City Stadium. That was 28,680 against Derby in April 2016.

Will be above the attendance for the Super Cup in 2014 as well - that was 30,854.

Won’t beat the crowd for the Wales v Belgium match though - there was 33,280 there for that match. Segregation means that we won’t beat that. Don’t think it can be beaten unless we increase the stadium capacity?

So this will be the second highest attendance ever at the Cardiff City Stadium, and the most for a Cardiff City match.

Yes, I was in the Bob Bank that day too - my feet didn’t touch the ground when we left, dragged out with the momentum of people leaving, scary time that was!

I totally disagree with that and find it very condescending. I go to watch city and I hope we win in any way it takes to do it. My dream is to see the Premier league big boys getting a massive upset. I couldn’t give a toss who plays for them, I wouldn’t even be interested if Jesus himself played for them.

nice if they could fit some extra seats in ,so that we could hold the record crowd at our own stadium...33,367 would be nice.

I agree, but can’t see how they could do that?

There was talk of putting an extra tier on the Canton Stand at one point, but can’t see that happening unless we spend a few consecutive years in the Premier League and regularly have a capacity crowd.

Biggest Crowd since the old Ninian Park days, I really wish the club never got rid off our home at the Ninian Park, they could still fingers crossed return to the stadium, with a few new stands to bring in more people, the atmosphere was electric and wish even if it is a 00.01% chance of it returning, without question I would absolutely love the return of the stadium

Maybe I misread but are you suggesting a return to Ninian Park is still on the cards?

I was at the Arsenal game in 1968 - my first full season watching. I missed the Hereford game in 1976 as I had broken my leg playing rugby. But I was there for the Spurs and Everton games in 1977. :bluescarf: :)

I must be in the 0.1% as I'm going to watch my beloved Cardiff City who just happen to be playing a top Premier League team in the FA Cup 4th Round :thumbright:

I went to the Mansfield FA cup game and also the Burton Carabao Cup game in August, so I'm consistent in my support of the club and whilst I will enjoy the 'challenge' on Sunday and maybe even appreciate the quality of the opposition players, I will be there to support Cardiff City FC first, last and foremost as always! ;)

I suspect there are others (probably more that 0.1%) who feel the same! :bluescarf: :bluebird:
