Championship side Cardiff City are to battle it out with League One side Blackburn Rovers for Fleetwood Town left-back Amari’i Bell, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is keen to bring the 23 year-old to the Cardiff City Stadium this January but will have to face strong competition from Blackburn Rovers, who have made a bid for him..

It is expected that it will be an auction for the highly-rated left-back and whoever pays the most will get their man.

Cardiff are on the lookout for some acquisitions as they want to bolster their ranks and improve their chances of promotion to the Premier League. They have hit a bit of a rut recently and Warnock is targeting Bell and another striker to help kick-start their season.

Blackburn, on the other hand, have been targeting a move for Bell for a while and have been impressed with his performances for their League One rivals Fleetwood. They will be aiming for promotion back to the Championship from now until the end of the season.

Bell played for West Bromwich Albion and Solihull Moors as a youngster before he joined Birmingham City in 2012. He had various loan spells at Nuneaton Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Mansfield Town, Gillingham and Swindon Town during his time at St. Andrews.

He then joined Fleetwood Town on a permanent deal in 2015 and has not looked back since. It is a real possibility that he will leave the cod army this month, but to which club is yet to be known.

Was mentioned in commentary a few times yesterday , was a bit surprised but maybe mileage with Peltier and Connoly injured. Seems a decent player mind.

Would be a great signing if not forced to overpay, looks like he's out of contract in the summer so maybe £500K with a sellon deal.
