“ NEIL WARNOCK NAMED A STRONG TEAM TODAY BUT IT WASN’T ENOUGH TO BEAT LEAGUE TWO OPPOSITION “

Cardiff City should have won this comfortably with the team that started the match, but now have to go to a replay

Cardiff City 0-0 Mansfield Town

Sean Morrison and Jazz Richards both returned from injury :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Crowd only 6,378, Mansfield sold 1,064 tickets before matchday :thumbright:

Cardiff City dominated the first half.

Mansfield’s goalkeeper punched away a dangerous Rhys Healey cross in the first ten minutes

Four minutes later, Healey could have put City ahead but scuffed his shot

After 17 minutes, Lee Tomlin fired a shot wide

In the 36th minute, Callum Paterson came closest to opening the scoring when his deflected shot was pushed away

40 minutes in, Healey had a shot tipped over the bar and the goalkeeper saved a Morrison header from the corner

Just before half time, the keeper makes another good save from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing this time

Half Time. City dominated the match but still 0-0

50 minutes and Paterson heads just wide

Mansfield nearly went ahead in the 51st minute when MacDonald’s shot went just wide

Rhys Healey shot over the bar on 53 minutes

Mansfield went close again in the 60th minute, but a good save by Murphy

One minute later and Healey had a shot cleared off the line

Paterson headed wide on 68 minutes

Warnock made his first change on 75 minutes when Loic Damour replaced Morrison

Junior Hoilett came on for Rhys Healey in the 77th minute

Anthony Pilkington replaced Kenneth Zohore in the 80th minute

Bruno Manga headed wide in the 83rd minute

Callum Paterson thought he should had an 87th minute penalty, but nothing given

Lee Tomlin had a shot pushed away in the 90th minute

Full Time and it finishes 0-0

Awful result. Over to you Warnock, we are starting to get concerned :old:

Strong team, disappointed in result but that’s the beauty of the cup :thumbright:

Cheers Ned :thumbright:

I’m sat on a plane to take off

At least it’s not 5 defeats in a row

Better than five defeats in a row

Disappointing result I agree, we played a strong team.

Disappointing result but we’d happily take this draw in exchange for wins against Sunderland and Sheff Wed

It's the late use of subs that I don't get 80+ mind again?

I often think the same, seems that we’re always late making changes??

Strong team. Poor performance. Great to see Jazz and Morrison come back but the likes of Mendez Laing would have been better served having the week off. He looks shattered. Zohore is either nowhere near full fitness or can't be arsed. He was appalling today. He's looking like the total misfit he was when he first arrived. He needs a rocket up his ass.

No wins in 4 now and a game we should be comfortably winning at home strong team and lower league opposition, and at the moment it's hard to see where's the next victory's coming from, time for concern?

This has been an annoyance of mine for some time with Warnock. There's nothing worse than when you're chasing a game, the players are knackered, but the manager doesn't make a substitution until its way too late for them to have a proper impact.

Sometimes it works (Tomlin Vs Reading) but usually they just don't have enough time to get into the flow of the game. All it does is make sure some of the starting eleven run themselves into the ground.

It's the cup, we aren't out. A draw and replay isn't ideal but rather it than a loss. We have been the lower league team for these games not so long ago so we shouldn't be surprised they put up a fight.

Late subs and no bogle coming on is off tho.

What I don't get though probably saying this controversially is that a team like Wolves although we know have much more expensive player's than ours are running their hearts out just because the talents there don't entitle them to be fitter but they are by far,Santo's virtually picking the same team week in week out, don't get all this mumbo jumbo tiredness and fatigue nonsense.

I'm not sure what else Warnock can do. Hes picking the best players he can. They looked tired mentally more so then physically. Neil was spot on when he said its like extracting teeth right now.
I don't feel the late subsitutes mattered, If we were still playing now, we still wouldn't have scored

There are managers who are renowned for times of subs NW seems it's 80mins unless forced! Nowhere near enough time to influence game like today 3 subs within 5mins?

Strong Players, but not a strong team.Too many occasions today where our attacker tried taking on their players on their own, when a simple pass to a team mate would've created a fantastic goalscoring opportunity.
Mendez and Healy the main culprits. they need to look up more.

Warnock has 2 really bad traits, horrendous timing of subs and lack of respect for the cup.

Warnock hates the cup. It obviously rubs off on the players.

Point black obvious to see but he did say he loved the FA Cup but it's nonsense.

Fulham, Burton and now this, he's only managed us for 4 cup ties in total I think.

While I agree he doesn't care for the cup I do think he wanted to win today to stop the rot.

Really?? :?

I was sat right behind him today and I have to say he was a vocal as ever with his team, the officials and the opposing bench. Some of his comments were as cutting as ever and others were hilarious!

The referee was poor today with his judgements and let a lot of 'obvious' fouls go whilst stopping play for some pedantic ones but the positive was he was equally poor for both teams and both benches looked at each other in bemusement at some

Fair do's to Neil Warnock and Steve Evans, they both tried to 'play' the officials with an expertise only their time in the game could develop and often they would turn away, look at each other and smile knowingly as they walked back to their respective positions! ;) :laughing6:
