Warnock "Who's the player ?

Neil Warnock has said today that there's a player he's wanted for years at different clubs but he's never been able to afford him ? Who is it ? Charlie Adam maybe ?


It’s always a gamble in January, I think it’s a bad time. This player that I’ve been after, I’ve been after for a number of years but I’ve never been able to afford him so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

“If I don’t get him them I’ve got other options but they’re not the same as him. We’re talking about spending quite a bit of money on one and getting the other on a free transfer, but I would only bring someone into the club who will better what we’ve got and the one I’m looking for, the fans will really enjoy seeing.”

Been scratching my head as well.

I don't think that Charlie Adam, at his age and at this stage of his career, would cost a whole lot of money in fees. I am assuming NW is talking about a 3 million + player. Issue with Charlie Adam may not be the fee but the wages.

I agree and it also explains the slight delay in signing as he seems to be playing the waiting game on this one player. Jerome possibly?

Jack Rodwell? Valued at 3M and currently not in the picture at Sunderland. Maybe the hold up is that Sunderland do not want him to play against them. Just a thought.

played for leeds for 6 years. and Norwich for 6 years. so he's probably played against us probably about 20 times

What I find refreshing is that the club keeps details of the targets secret until they actually sign a contract.

As fans , we all like to join in and comment on the rumours but the truth is that nobody outside a few senior people at the club actually know - as it should be.
Some may claim after a player has signed that they knew all along that it was going to happen but that will be bulls*it

He gets a lot of put downs but had great promise when he started, the right move and he might rebuild in career.

No point even guessing, it could be anyone, thousands of players out there ... plus we might not get him so you’ll never know then aswell haha

Are there any players left who have not been linked with us? Perhaps we should hold a sweep stake and guess how many names will be put out on the grapevine as potential signings. I'd have to go for around 600.
