Chelsea have recalled two players from season-long loan deals, with striker Ike Ugbo and midfielder Kasey Palmer returning to the club but the Blues have not specified their reasoning for bringing the duo back.

Palmer was on loan at Huddersfield Town where he also spent the entirety of last season as they gained promotion to the Premier League. He made 25 appearances in the Championship last season but has struggled for minutes this term. The England Under-21 international was hampered by a hamstring injury and last played against Everton at the start of December.

Huddersfield manager David Wagner explained: "Kasey is a great character and we’d like to wish him all the best for the future as he returns to Chelsea. He was a big part in our successful promotion to the Premier League, but the hamstring injury he suffered made it difficult for him this season. He has struggled to hit his best level since his return to training and that’s why he hasn’t been able to earn a position in the team."
