' Kumar Out / Kumar Out '

Tue Jan 02, 2018 5:48 pm

January 1998, I can’t believe it was 20 years ago! Cardiff beat Oldham 1-0 I think it front of 7,000. The next round was Reading away when we lost on pens, Thank you Anthony Rivers for the photo & date.

Anthony Rivers: "Sponsors in the John Charles suite. By the end of the season it was ‘ Kumar out ‘ on the pitch!"

Annis, I can obviously spot you from a mile off and Tony is first left.

Who is the guy in the front with the blue shirt on?

Spot on - there were hailstones the size of golf balls on the M4 with traffic down to 15mph at one point coming in from Bridgend as you simply couldn't see a foot in front of you and it was howling a gale too. Several Oldham fans weren't wearing shirts and I wouldn't be surprised if they really did catch pneumonia that day.

I remember the hail storm during the game, bad enough at the time I thought the game might be abandoned.

John Hallworth played a blinder in goal that day!

I was only a teenager for this game but me and my mate were gobsmacked by the whole experience. The aggresive nature of our support the noise of the fans and spirit from the team just got me hooked on the city. Sadly nothing can compare to this anymore, we were a bloody scary lot back in the 90's. Times change but i miss these days so much.

Didn’t Joff have a bit of a limp Annis, haven’t seen him at a City game for years. Remember that game though, probably last time we played at Elm Park, brilliant performance and ultimately brilliant failure.
