About Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers Football Club (also known as QPR) is a professional association football club based in White City, London, that currently plays in the Championship, the second tier of English football. Their honours include winning the League Cup in 1967, as well as the Second Division in 1983 and the Championship in 2011. QPR were also triumphant in the 2013–14 Championship playoffs and were winners of the Third Division South in 1947–48 and the Third Division in 1966–67. They were runners-up in the First Division in 1975–76, and reached the final of the 1982 FA Cup.

Queens Park Rangers were founded in 1886 after the merger of Christchurch Rangers and St. Judes Institute. In the early years after the club's formation in its original home of Queen's Park, London, they played their home games at many different grounds, until finally the club settled into its current location at Loftus Road.

Owing to their proximity to other west London clubs, QPR maintain long-standing rivalries with several other clubs in the area. The most notable of these are Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford, of whom they contest what are known as West London Derbies.

NEIL WARNOCK:

Warnock puts onus on himself

"They’ve hit a brick wall, some of them. We’ve lost player after player and this has been a tough week for us."

"But hey there are worse things in life. I always enjoy going back to QPR so I’ll enjoy that and I’ve got to do something in the next couple of days to give them a lift.”

Our best hope is a draw, we just need to stop the rot but 2v0 muchmore likely. My worry is what a fourth defeat will do to our fickle fan base. Expect idiots to call for Warnock to be sacked. The Mansfield game could be important to win and build confidence again.

Cardiff City drop to 4th place as Derby County win 2-1 at Ipswich to move up to 2nd. Bristol City can regain 2nd place if they can beat Wolves at Ashton Gate today.

QPR is not pay on the gate. Vince Alm has posted on his Facebook saying the club will not be selling tickets.

Hopefully anyone travelling down might be lucky and there might be a few spare. But it is NOT pay on the day

Cardiff City travel to Loftus Road for a New Year's Day clash against Queens Park Rangers, which has become a must-win after the Bluebirds lost their last three matches.

QPR have won 12 of their last 16 home league matches against Cardiff (D1 L3), winning 2-1 last season.

The Bluebirds’ last league double over QPR came in the 2007/08 season – they won 2-1 against the Hoops earlier this season.

QPR are winless in four home league games (D2 L2), their worst run since Ian Holloway returned to the club in November 2016 –
including his first spell in charge; the Hoops have never gone five home league matches without a win under Holloway.

Neil Warnock hasn’t won away from home at Loftus Road since December 2007, when his Crystal Palace side won 2-1 against a QPR team managed by Luigi De Canio.

Holloway has won five of his last six home league meetings with Warnock (D1) since losing 1-0 during his first spell as QPR boss against Warnock’s Sheffield United in August 2004.

Paterson right wing back, Bennett on the left, with Healey and Hoilett playing off Zohore. Unconventional, to say the least

Cardiff have started the brighter, not just in terms of their shirt.

They win a free-kick for a foul on Paterson at a very quiet Loftus Road... other than the Cardiff fans. Ralls takes and it narrowly evades Bamba at the back stick. Goal kick.

Re: MATCH THREAD “ QPR v CARDIFF CITY “ MATCH THREAD

Mon Jan 01, 2018 3:07 pm

Sloppy touch and foul from Ralls when it was easier just to knock a simple pass to Paterson. QPR pressing forward.

Re: MATCH THREAD “ QPR v CARDIFF CITY “ MATCH THREAD

Mon Jan 01, 2018 3:09 pm

Manga does well to hold off Smith but then Peltier is robbed in midfield.

The ball isn’t quite sticking to Zohore but Healey charges forward and forces a decent save from Alex Smithies.

Re: MATCH THREAD “ QPR v CARDIFF CITY “ MATCH THREAD

Mon Jan 01, 2018 3:09 pm

Decent run from Healey is thwarted, as both teams look to be playing in a similar style (three centre backs) :thumbright:

Paterson with the long throw, well nodded away by Baptiste who then mops up again. The Scot has another long throw chance on the opposite wing.
