Tony Pulis and Nigel Pearson are high on Middlesbrough’s managerial wishlist, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands Pulis wants to spend Christmas with his family before returning to the dugout, but Gibson is keen to make an appointment as soon as possible in the midst of Boro's hectic festive.

Boro's academy director Craig Liddle has taken temporary charge of the club's first team affairs - including the Boxing Day home game against Bolton - until a permanent manager can be found.
