Pay on the Day for Bolton today?

Sat Dec 23, 2017 12:39 pm

The dear Lady, my 2 kids and I are pumped to going to Bolton today as we live in North Wales and had read a few times earlier that it would be pay on the day.

However, I've just read a post saying that 'unofficially' people will be allowed in?

Will we be able to go?

I was going to take the kids to see the match today as we live in Manchester, but thought I'd phone the cardiff ticket office to be on the safe side, and I was told Bolton weren't doing pay on the day.

Was looking forward to the match too, as I don't really get to attend many theses days.

Just ask the supporters in attendance. Vince is well known...and hard to miss! ;) :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Thank you! We're on the way, should be outside the ground in about 40 minutes!

I sorted one guy out with 4 and then another guy came up who'd rung me earlier.

Thought they were the same group. Luckily it was pay on the gate in the end- even though the official line was it wasn't.... chaos

Tim, at least 95% of our away games turn out pay on the day :thumbright:

But our club because they want members and to watch who goes hardly ever tell our fans and this is not helping at all.

I find out my own way and thats why thankfully so far every away game I have put out and promote as pay on the day has turned out pay on the day :thumbright: :bluebird:

We don't sell enough away tickets to make games all ticket nowadays.

Its only clubs which really fear trouble like Bristol City & Brum who have to,due to the Police.

Annis you talk fuking shit at times. Take it from someone who stood outside loads of grounds without a ticket, there have been loads of times in the last 10 years where you weren't getting in. I've got in every time often by the skin of my teeth. f**k me I couldn't get in at Barnsley one year - there must of been 3000 empty seats. You couldn't get into Bristol this year. you wont get into Leeds and probably Millwall. You refer to Brum I couldn't get in a couple of years ago - the previous year they were selling on the gate. We've discussed the incident I had at Bolton 5 years ago - I had 4 kids with me and they were absolutely not letting us in. Brighton, QPR, Ipswich, Derby, Brum, Coventry, Wolves are amongst many others where I've at times struggled. ( no prem games included I made sure I always had a ticket for those )

The situation is improving as our behaviour improves but you cant expect people plans on that basis. The number of clubs who formally in announce / confirm in advance that we can pay on the gate is closer to 0% than 10%.

Cheers for the abuse, can't have a debate without insults, sad life.

Yes we did go through Restrictions for years, but the last 4-5 years there has had hardly been a restriction and thats a fact.

All I have said is that when I get told NO Restrictions/Pay on the day, I put it out and so far over the last 5 years I have been spot on.

All I am doing is trying to help fans :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

But if u want to bring up excuses and insults, if fans really want to go,they go end off :thumbright: :thumb right:

I will say it again, I said it was pay on the day at Reading and Bolton and it was :thumbright: Whats your problem?

Can I just say, many thanks to Lawnmower who did indeed sort me with the 4 tickets in the end! It is a testament to this forum that such things can happen.

It is very difficult when you have no 'official' word that it is pay on the day. I phoned Bolton twice, once claiming that I'd been travelling for 2 hours and was currently at Stoke with the kids, and they were adamant on both occasions that we would not be let in.

Given that we are having issues with away (and home, but besides the point) attendances, this silly Gold membership thing really does not help. People like me who can only go to the odd away match will inevitably choose not to go rather than risk it. This issue has been a topic before and really could do with sorting out.

There were a couple of fans who arrived just after I'd nicked the last 4 tickets from Lawnmower who did manage to pay at the gate so Annis was absolutely correct. I have no blame towards Annis, he is giving the information that he is given which is, 9 times out of 10, absolutely spot on and is trying to help as much as he can. But, it is really difficult when you are being told 'officially' by the other club that we will categorically NOT be let in. Can we have some consistent and clear application of the rules here from the away club? We expect consistency in refereeing and our own bosses expect us to be consistent in our job, so why can't we get a straight answer from the away club. I was basically lied to on the phone by Bolton whether that was intentional or not.

Again, thank you Lawnmower for the tickets - it was a pleasure meeting you and I owe you a tenner!! The kids thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and hopefully that will mean that they become more interested in football (at long sodding last) and my Lady and I can attend more away matches!

Thank you for your kind comments and I am glad everything went ok, other than the result :thumbright: :bluebird:

You are more than welcome mate.

Part of being a fan of this club is helping out our fellow fans ( which was why I had the tickets in the first place)

Just s pity about the result !
