10 arrested over Swindon v Newport football violence after a mass brawl broke out following the Swindon Town v Newport football match last month.
At first nine men, a 46-year-old and a 43-year-old from Swindon, two aged 19 from Chippenham, two aged 19 and 25 from Calne and three Wantage men aged 51, 49 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in Fleet Street on November 25.
A tenth man, aged 22, from Swindon, has now also been arrested.
A large number of people were involved in the incident, which happened at about 5.40pm.
Supt Adrian Burt said they had been taken to the custody suite at Gablecross.
“We will not tolerate violence of any kind and although this incident did not happen at the football ground, football supporters were involved,” he said.
“I appreciate that it is often the small minority of supporters who are intent on causing issues and often spoil the event for those loyal football fans who simply wish to enjoy the game.
“I would like to make supporters aware that officers will take a robust approach against those who act in a violent manner and investigations will always be carried out to identify those responsible.”
The fighting happened after match at the County Ground, won by Newport. It was the first time the two teams had met there in three decades.
