WRU are considering drink free zone at millenium stadium! But problem is they don't want to spoil occasion for stag parties ext ect who get pissed before game but can't get drink in stadium so spoiling their day! Also it will spoil the occasion that as made millennium stadium special if ban alcohol, begs question why bother to look at it when their chief executive clearly wants alcohol to be available at matches, never mind the inconvenience & abuse to many other fans

That's why put this post up he says will look at booze free zones, but then goes on and make 3 excuses as to why they won't!

i do know sometimes there can be a general acceptance about a certain thing that turns out to be totally wrong..
but really...they needed a survey to tell them rugby fans like a drink in international days.??????????

Mr Phillips is picking and choosing what he likes from the survey as he wants to keep the Status Quo. Which is why he is promoting the, "fans like a drink" tagline.
What he is ignoring and WHY they have to act is that there were many in the survey that want a much different day out than to get plastered and miss half the game through drink and piss runs.

Just leave them to it. They should allow alcohol at football and rugby matches.

not sure how being allowed to drink in the bowl would work out especially in the canton stand..
but i do think rugby/football fans should be treated identical.

Couldn't care less what they do at the egg, but would not like to see alcohol allowed in the stands at the football. From what I read, the egg-chasers are up and down throughout the game fetching trays of pints and going for a slash. That would really do my head in. Besides, imagine some J.Arthur spilling booze all over your clobber. Could start a lot of trouble. No. Leave the football as it is.

All the rugby has to do to sort the problems they are having is to have family friendly alcohol free stands. That would stop the main issue of having pissed up groups of lads in and around familys and young children.
If the familys choose to buy a ticket in an alcohol zone that is there choice bit shouldnt moan about it.

Can't be done as tickets are distributed by several hundred rugby clubs as well as wru how can you allocate smoke free zone tickets to so many places? Think you find if you read the report that's one idea but even that interferes with people's reason for going alcohol! etc ect

I can't understand why people pay expensive prices for a rugby match then spend a lot of the game either at the bar or in the toilet. Why not stay home or watch it in the pub. You could have quite a few extra pints with the money saved on ticket prices, if that's what floats your boat!

You are allowed to drink in your seats Australia and whilst it’s nice to have a beer watching the game, it’s a pain if you are near the end of a row as you miss half of the game getting up and letting people past to get drinks, go piss, come back etc. I’d rather not have a beer!
