Cardiff City shouldn’t look any further than former midfielder Jordan Mutch in the January window

Cardiff City’s search for a midfielder in the January window shouldn’t go beyond Crystal Palace outcast Jordan Mutch.
Neil Warnock revealed last week that he is looking to add to his team in the January window with emphasis on loaning players who can’t get into Premier League squads.
One man who fits into that category is former Cardiff City midfielder Jordan Mutch and he is likely to be made available for a move next month.
Mutch was hoping for a loan move to a Championship team as late as deadline day in the summer window but nothing materialised.
The 26-year-old joined Reading on loan to aid their play-off push earlier in the season, making nine appearances and scoring one as the Royals climbed to third and a play-off final.
Jordan Mutch, of course, has a strong history with Cardiff having represented them for two years between 2012-14, and he was one of the brightest sparks of their Premier League season in 2013/14.
They say ‘never go back’ but he certainly fits what Neil Warnock wants, and that’s a Premier League player, not in the first team, who can be loaned with a view to signing permanently if promotion is secured.
Jordan Mutch actually impressed against Cardiff City’s under-23 side last week when featuring for the Crystal palace youngsters
And he impressed for the Palace first team during pre-season but he hasn’t had a look in since, not featuring in a single game, league or cup.
The former England under-21 international will be desperate for a move in January and Cardiff City, the last place he really succeeded, may be able to offer him just that.
Neil Warnock hasn’t worked with Mutch despite sharing two former clubs, but he’s expected to be well aware of his ability.
A powerful midfielder is number one on Warnock’s list and as Cardiff City fans will know all too well, Jordan Mutch can fit into that category.
There won’t be too many Premier League players available for loan who could better the current Cardiff City squad and you would have to say, Jordan Mutch is among the few who fits into that.
