VOTE OF CONFIDENCE FOR HUGHES

20/12/17

Mark Hughes retains the support of the Stoke City board ahead of Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion, Sky Sports News has been told.

It follows reports that former manager Tony Pulis is being lined up for a third spell in charge at the bet365 Stadium, with Stoke 17th in the table and after five defeats in their last six Premier League games.

The Stoke hierarchy are concerned by recent results, but it is understood the club currently has no plans to approach Pulis.

Pulis is still close friends with Stoke Chairman Peter Coates; the two men sat together at a special LMA Awards ceremony a fortnight ago, when Pulis was recognised for taking charge of over 1,000 matches, but we've been told that, while Coates will always be grateful for the job Pulis did getting Stoke into the Premier League, and keeping them there, the club have no plans to bring him back.
