Don't risk Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson too early
By Dominic Booth
In his Friday press conference, Warnock revealed 'Ken Zohore is flying' in reference to the Dane's encouraging injury progress, but accepted he may have to wait until the FA Cup clash with Mansfield (on January 6) for the striker's full comeback.
Warnock admitted Zohore was eager to return as soon as possible, the striker clearly desperate to play a part over Christmas and repeat his heroics of last season, when he came into the side in December and never looked back.
There may be a temptation to rush Zohore back to first team action — such is his potential influence — but Warnock will surely temper the 23-year-old's excitement for a while longer. He needs Zohore in the best condition to bully Championship defences like Cardiff fans know he can.
The same goes for Aron Gunnarsson, who may be playing his final ever season with the Bluebirds but will be ready to help Warnock's promotion bid get over the line at any cost.
Both are such crucial players. But the last few weeks have shown Cardiff can cope without them, and may have to for a bit longer. It's a necessary waiting game.
