Fair play to Sunderland and Middlesbrough for their numbers considering the distances they've got to travel

A clubs all time history it seems has a big influence on its current support.roughly the top 10 clubs with the best support both home and away are the clubs with the 10 best history's.

Out of curiosity what have Birmingham City,Sheffield United,Forest,Boro,Wolves,Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds won in the last 15 years and achieved?
My opinion only Boro have been doing much, up and down to the Premier League.
Cardiff have not been relegated from the Championship in the last 17 years, We have had three promotions,Won the Championship Trophy,Promoted Premier League, 4 Wembley Appearances, One Millennium Stadium and a New Stadium. On the field Very Very Exciting Years

Achieved short spells in premier league expect sheff Utd brum league cup win.
Mon Dec 18, 2017 4:27 pm
Agree with you its been exciting after the drivel of the 80/90s .but alas still no settled period in the premier league or trophy in the cabinet .still with Neil Warnock at the helm in hopeful.blooobirds.

There is a trophy, we won the championship

gaining support is a long term thing though look where we were in the 80s/90s and look at the crowds we had. your talking about generations who dont have it ingrained in them to go and take their family.
Mon Dec 18, 2017 4:37 pm
All those clubs above us apart from. Bristol are bigger clubs than us also they don't have to travel as far as us ,i wonder sometimes why we get long journeys midweek

i think a club like ipswich is a perfect example of what we should look at, theyve been at the same level just as long as we have and have similar travelling distances.

In the 80's/90's Wez, Wolves, Bristol City, Sheffield United,Boro, Brum etc were all similar to us and struggling in lower divisions.
Boro had their ground closed down, bankrupt, lower division.
Wolves Division 4.
Brum lucky to fill a coach away.
Sheffield United years of up and down lower leagues like us.

Middlesbrough also got to the uefa cup final which is a pretty massive achievement
Middlesborough FC:
The club experienced severe financial difficulties during the mid-1980s.
Middlesbrough were dropping down the table, and finished 19th in the 1984–85 season. In April 1986, the club had to borrow £30,000 from the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) to pay wages. The final game of the season saw Middlesbrough relegated to the Third Division again.
That summer, the club called in the Provisional Liquidator and shortly afterwards, the club was wound up and the gates to Ayresome Park were padlocked. Without the £350,000 capital required for Football League registration, a new rule, it seemed inevitable that the club would fold permanently.
Steve Gibson, however, a member of the board at the time, brought together a consortium, and with 10 minutes to spare before the deadline they completed their registration with the Football League for the 1986–87 season, crowds were as low as 5,000.
Following the registration came both a change of club crest and a change of the official company name to Middlesbrough Football and Athletic Club (1986) Ltd

Well you counted the period in the Premier in your post as you said we didn't have a settled period in that league. You cant dismiss a trophy as not being CCFC then bemoan a lack of a settled period in teh top division as we only had one season (in the same colour)

Doesn't matter that other clubs have bigger away support.
WE MAKE MORE NOISE!
WE ARE MORE PSSIONATE!
WE ARE BLUEBIRDS!
It's what the players hear on the pitch that counts!
Not this club or that club has more away support!
And what Neil Warnock says that matters!
Mon Dec 18, 2017 8:36 pm
What a load of crap! These are just figures and do not take into consideration teams travelling very shot distances so taking larger following than us particularly! Plus name one of teams above us in this table who have poorer away support than us in past 10 yrs They are all bigger clubs , And how do compare between us and any other club regarding support?

Well done Burton, great effort considering the size of their ground and their home crowd. If you look at those figures, in the main it will come back to around 8%-10% of the average home crowd for most clubs. If you raise home crowds on a regular basis it will raise the away crowd.

Spot on and Burton are bottom three, they are like a village compared to many other Championship Clubs and NO history, brings many Clubs away Support to Shame.
