Ledley was such a fool leaving---

Thu Aug 05, 2010 6:47 pm

thinking he was jumping off a sinking ship---but it looks like slowly but surely we are bailing out and floating again. Koumas arriving and Gethin saying we won't sell anyone of our stars means that we have wind in our sails and we are ready with some more 'arrivals on board' to set sail to the promised land.........bad move Joe and for what?---short term EVIL  dirty bigoted scottish money. Celtic a bigger club???....no way, not ever.

have to say I think he made the right move at the time, cardiff were on the verge of going out of business!!! so with the money celtic offered him and the signing on bonus i would say he would be a fool to have stayed!! just my opinion!!

But things are looking up for us!! :ayatollah:

Blazing how is your mate Ridsdale?

It will always be the right decision for money reasons and always be the wrong reasons for footballing reasons.
He is now set for life but IMO will now never play in the prem.

How do you figure that? He could easily go to the Prem from Scotland. A lot of players do.

how much do you need 2 be set for life he will now earn more than he can spend in his life time just proves footballers no longer live in the real world

Re: Ledley was such a fool leaving---

Thu Aug 05, 2010 7:07 pm

They could have picked him up this summer for Comp and only Stoke were interested.
Even if he has 2 or 3 good seasons at that level it will always be in the back of clubs minds that it is "just Scotland" and is isnt the type of player to really stand out anyway, he isnt a Koumas or a Chopra who people see and think wow he could do a job.
I think his only chance of a prem move now will be to drop back to the championship in a few years and get promoted.

I may be wrong of course who knows but I just dont see him ever making the prem now, he has missed his chance for the extra £££

It's just an opinion Maccydee and one I agree with. Ledley reminds me so much of Alan Thompson who went to Celtic after a fairly successful stint at Bolton and Aston Villa.

He was a 27 year old left-sided midfielder when he made the move to Scotland and it ruined any chance he had at International level with England and he never played in the Premiership again.

Re: Ledley was such a fool leaving---

Thu Aug 05, 2010 7:24 pm

I also believe Ledley has made the right financial move but the wrong football move. The SPL is getting weaker each year and the players going from the SPL to the Prem is reflective of that.

How much of Joes wages is bonus related,
Champions’ league bonus has gone then,
The Celtic owner is a crafty c**t he’s diddled us out of compo

He's ok thanks, went with him today to pick up a brand new Audi - very nice. 1/ Celtic are crap and only perceived as a big club due to the religious nonsense 2/ Good for him but money is not everything and he should have stayed one more season to see you through to the premiership 3/ See Carls post re signings tomorrow 4/ Go take a positive pill !! :ayatollah:

Re: Ledley was such a fool leaving---

Whilst I wish Joe well I really do believe he made the wrong "footballing" decision even if financially it appeared the right thing to do.

Celtic and Rangers would, in my opinion, be no better than some Championship sides and would certainly struggle in the Premiership - as proven by Braga over 2 games!

The rest of the SPL is nothing special and I wonder whether it will affect Ledleys Welsh Ambitions - as there are other players who, whilst not yet as good as Ledley, will be playing competitive football more regularly.

Joe is, of course, reliant on being picked as one of the 4 midfielders in a squad of around 50 at Celtic... A club with a high turnover of players.

In some respect I feel sorry for Joe as I genuinely believe that CCFC will be in the Premiership in a few seasons and I fear Joe may have missed the boat.

Yeah i agree with that Chief. Yes the money which swayed it but in truthfulness did any prem club seriously want to sign him after Stoke fell threw.

There's no way Ledley is Premiership. He went to Scotland for an easy ride because he's a f*cking shyster who bottles it when the chips are down.

It's really quite fitting that he won't be playing Champions League football. Ha ha. Celtic fans will really turn on him when they realise what a lightweight he is.

It's easy to say Ledley could go to the prem from Scotland but...

Prem clubs now would have had to pay compensation, far less than a full transfer fee.

None except Stoke were interested, they only wanted a player deal rather than paying cash.

He's not Prem quality. Not the pace to play out wide, doesn;'t dominate central midfield at this level.

Championship is probably his level.

I totally agree with this. How many players do you see going from the SPL to the premier league? Not many - Craig Gordan and one or two others apart recently. It says something when one of the hottest properties in Scotland - Kris Boyd- goes to Middlesborough and not a prem club.

Joe is not a stand out player, obviously didnt have as many offers as he and his agent thought he'd get and chose to go somewhere to set him up for life financially rather than testing his footballing abilities.
