Dont be surprised to expect a few more as we go through the season. The drip feed technique being employed by the Malaysians is a good one becuase it keeps our creditors at arms length so new deals can be done. The down side of it all will be threats of new embargos. No getting around that one because the tax man is a prick.

I'm sure Jenkins isn't threatening PMG... indeed, more likely to be a threat to the Malaysians / prelude to a firesale of players.

Referring to possible further embargos = reinforcing in fans minds we're skint = less backlash should we sell.

It's one possibility.

in fairness to Gethin Jenkins its along the same lines as he has said since he joined the club ie things wont be easy but we will give it a go.

That isn't the way I read the interview. To me the club are being consistant they have always said they have a plan to pay off debt slowly whilst keeping our better players.

Well, the plan isn't working. Having loan deals agreed but being unable to play them makes the club a bigger laughing stock.

Equally, publicly coming out and admitting we're going to not be paying HMRC / other football clubs in advance is pretty damn stupid. It's a good way to destroy any chance of leniency should worst come to worst - plus confirm HMRC's assessment we're insolvently trading.

they always said out of embargo before start of season lets wait and see still time

Re: Further Embargo's likely

Always felt more embargos were likely, many clubs use this route as effectively an interest free overdraft and is understandable why the taxman has had enough and is playing hardball.

not with every club though seems to be a post code thing

HMRC are playing hardball with all clubs - football clubs have been taking the piss for years.

We could be playing a very dangerous game by deferring payment of tax as a way of having an interest free overdraft, something always on the cards anyway, but with Gethin Jenkins effectively admitting today that this is a tool they are going to use to help get over the obvious issues we will face in the very near future and indeed longer, our card could very well be being marked by by those at HMRC. While those running the club and many of us may think it's very clever manipulation of the system, which to a degre it is, Mr Taxman will surely be incredulous at such blatant exploitation of the rules at it's expense and indeed pay us special attention so to speak. It certainly is immorale, but also clearly a way in which this area can be exploited as it stands, but we would be naive to think we can be so blatant in abusing this rule and get away with it indefinitley. Personally, taking my Cardiff City hat off, I think it's completely despicable and shouldn't be allowed, but if it helps us come out of this mess, so be it. Doesn't mean it's right though and would be interested to hear the howls of derision were our chums down the M4 using such methods.

The plan is working again, we are out of the embargo and can now field those players signed. GJ didn't actually say we won't be paying the HMRC, just that we may slip back into an embargo as we face up to the challenges of returning the club to solvency.
