Remember my visit to the old den as a teen
Felt like a soldier going to war!
Scared and excited and it didn't disappoint
At the new den was two of the best city mobs I've ever seen
A Tuesday with about a 200 strong mob of lads from the kings (we wanted to walk the old Kent road )
And a Saturday when I swear we had a mob of 800 plus lads

I rem it well Eddie, we had some good lads that night and it still felt daunting
The Saturday was incredible, they reckon we had up to a 1,000 lads from the trains, an Inspector said it was as big as an International mob.

Went to that game. Not part of the 200. Most scared I’ve ever been in my life. Chatting to an old head Millwall on the tube who took pity on three 18 year old boys who clearly weren’t a match for anyone and he walked us to the ground. He had told us that 200 Cardiff had been in their pubs earlier. Honestly thought he was taking us to get a shoeing but it probably didn’t even enter his head and he said he needed to escort us to save us getting battered.
Thankfully after the game a Cardiff Coach dropped us off on the way as there was no way we were getting to that Tube station.

I went there for 76 / 77 game well the first half anyway. In the ground nice and early as it wasn't the sort of place to wonder around. There was about 250 Cardiff and couple of kids from Millwall standing in front of us. I walked down and was greeted with " Fack off you Welsh cant " . They were about 10 years old and the only Millwall in the ground.
Anyway the game was mayhem. 250 Cardiff pinned against the back of the stand in an area the size of a bus stop. The absolute thinnest of blue lines and Pegleg doing his best to wind Millwall into a frenzy. " 1, 2, 3 , 4 listen to the Millwall roar ..... Meow " Every time he did it they broke through the thin blue line and those at the front took a beating. Just before half time a bloke ran on the pitch, hit Phil Dwyer and all hell broke loose. In all the subsequent melee I remember for a moment getting a look at the game. The game was going without Robin Friday who was stood on the goal line watching it kick off on the terrace. I spent the second half hiding in a builders shed next to the ground.

They've never been the best of travelers, I seem to remember in the 70's we'd get done up there, and they'd get the same at NP. There's a lot of mutual respect between both sets of older heads.

They brought a good mob in 76 on the train, plenty of them tooled up as well. Two of them came in the old Bluebirds club before kick off, one of them was a big nasty looking fecker, a lad from North Connelly hit him over the head with a leg off a table, the bloke didn't flinch, the Cardiff lad dropped the thing and ran. When the Millwall bloke got outside and the fresh air hit him he collapsed, his head was split in half. After the game he was outside central station, head bandaged up, wading in to everyone.

I remember that game, I'd only just started going without my Dad. All the older Rhondda lot were involved in a big fight in Canton, when it all calmed down they realized they'd been fighting with fellow City fans-ah memories!

Walking back to London Bridge after the Tuesday game - the whole of Bermondsey was on the streets.
