Would Warnock really leave if we went up?

Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:46 pm

I can’t see him leaving and hope he gives it a go in the Premiership.

I think VT would back him and I would trust NW to find us a few class players to give the Prem a good go and supplement our current squad.

Anyone think he would really leave or stay?

he aint going anywhere...for all what he says about this being his preferred level and how the prem players are not his cup of tea.
if you read the thread....neil warnock believes Leeds was his biggest mistake....he talks about having been interviewed by Wolves.who, were in the prem..

It's him being very clever I think, because he'll be in the driving seat with negotiations if he does take us up!

When he takes us up.

I hope he stays. I hope he thinks he’s put together a squad of good guys and with a bit of extra investment could really have a go and cement his legacy.

Director of football with his choice of manager would be a decent bet

That’s not for him I’m sure.

Can’t see it.

Paul, I'm not so sure a 70 year old Neil Warnock would want to test himself in the Premier League again and would go out on a record high (of 8 Championship promotions) :notworthy:

If that were to be the case (and there is a way to go yet) then the offer of being some sort of Director of Football with responsibility for choosing his successor and then being the link with the Vincent Tan and his Board would be tempting and something the fans would like to see...and I'm not sure Sharon could handle him being home all day either! LOL  :ayatollah:

I see your thinking Chris and it's a fair argument but I just think given the full backing of tan it would be too hard for him to turn down, the passion and energy he still has makes me think he'd give it one more season!

Jack, you may be right but I'm just hoping Neil Warnock stays involved in any capacity should promotion be achieved. He has been a breath of fresh air at this club and if anyone now has Vincent Tan's trust, surely it's him and that's something that needs to be held on to! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

I take your point but I just can’t imagine him being in the background with team, selection, training, tactics and general player man management.
I’ll see Ken after the Norwich game, I’ll ask him mate!

He has had one opportunity to test his managerial metal in the Premiership and it didn't quite work out for him if he did manage to get City promoted he would be that much older and set in his ways also of course he would put his wife's health above all other considerations so in my view he would call it a day
