Who knew Danny Ward had that in his locker?

By Dominic Booth

Monday 27th November 2017

From what we've seen of Ward in a Cardiff shirt so far, it would be fair to describe him as a poacher. A quick forward who relies on decent service. A fast runner up front who feeds on scraps.

But perhaps we've been doing the former Rotherham forward an almighty disservice. His thumping 38th minute strike into the top corner deserved to win any football match and showcased a player with no shortage of talent.

What made it more satisfying for Ward - who has now scored four goals in five Cardiff starts - is that he made it all himself. Bruno Manga hit a long ball down the channel, Paterson tried to flick it on but when it fell at Ward's feet, he was 40 yards from goal.

The blond-haired No.9 then ran at the red shirts, slalomed inside on his left foot to unleash a thronker that gave Jordan Smith simply no chance.

It also came at a time when Forest were threatening to cancel out Hoilett's opener. But in that one moment, Ward lifted everyone in blue and it was plain sailing from thereon in.

Didn't he get 12 for Rotheram last season. And I don't think he's quite 100% fit yet.Not daft is the Gaffer and thats what makes me think we'll have a quiet Jan Transfer Window. How many other sides in the championship could afford to lose Ken,NML,Gunnars and still perform like we do.

Yes I think he did Martin in a relegation team.

Ward will only get better :thumbright: :bluebird:

Hell of a strike.

We were almost directly behind him and as soon as he hit it you could see that the goalie had no chance and it was going to absolutely fly in :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

His recent goal scoring stats are every bit as good as Zohore, who in my opinion (and I believe I'm on my own with this) is the most over rated player we have had in a long time. Back in the Summer he was being talked about as if he was the next Shearer, all based on a brief good run of goals over a few months earlier this year.
I read on here that even though we are flying high, we will be even better when Zohore returns. I will wait and see on that one, but I stick with what I said at the very start, I don't see him as any 20 goal a season striker.

It depends which Zohore returns. If it's the one who was key to us winning our first 5 games (he was such a handful and it allowed others, like NML to score) then he will improve the team. If it's the Zohore who seemed to let the transfer gossip get to his head, then I'd rather start with Ward or Bogle.

Speaking of whom, I'm pretty excited for Bogle to return from his suspension! He was looking shit hot!
