Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton rages at officials and accuses Cardiff City of 'continual delaying'

Sunday 26th November 2017

Defeated Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton directed his post-match fury at the officials in the wake of Cardiff City's 2-0 win at the City Ground.

Junior Hoilett and Danny Ward scored first half goals to secure three points for the Bluebirds.

But Warburton, who saw his team's record of four straight home wins come to an end against promotion-chasing Cardiff, was unhappy with the officials.

He said: “There was a clear foul on Tyler Walker and it was inexplicably not given - and we found ourselves 1-0 down. Tyler was bemused - 20 seconds earlier it should’ve been our free-kick, those are the fine margins.

“I have to be careful what I say but I thought it was a nailed-on handball

“We can’t cry over that now. All credit to Neil and his team."

Warburton also accused Cardiff of time-wasting and said the game "has to be managed differently" with many Forest fans booing the Bluebirds' players.

Callum Paterson was shown a yellow card for wasting time in the second half, but the Forest boss remained frustrated.

“We were frustrated at many things," he added. "The continual delaying. We have to learn, Cardiff are very good at what they do.
"But that has to be managed better than that by certain people.

“There’s other ways of dealing with that - I have to be very careful what I say, I want to keep within the letter of the law.

“Surely you deal with that early, stamp it out and it doesn’t become a problem.

“When I see someone stroll off the park and take that long, to applause, I find that very frustrating.

"But Cardiff are where they are because they deserve to be. I’m very respectful towards Cardiff, but they do have physicality.

“But we have to deal with it, it’s too easy to say we were bullied."

Would Warburton be speaking to referee Peter Bankes after the game?

“We will do yes. I have no problem with Cardiff City, zero problem with Neil.

“It has to be managed differently.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

But Warnock hit back, saying: “You’re bound to be disappointed when you’re beaten comprehensively. I’m glad Bryson did take his time, he had a sore Achilles. I didn’t tell him to get hurt and walk off slow to stop him doing any more damage. Do you want him to sprint off?

“What you should be talking about his how lucky they are to have 11 men on the field. There was a horrendous challenge from Traore (on Paterson), as bad as you see, and he only got a yellow. I’d forgotten about that so I’m glad you’ve reminded me. It should have been a red straight away, no doubt. Talk about people getting booked for time wasting and only a yellow for Traore – there’s something wrong there.”

I thought it was a straight red too. Certainly on a par with bogle.

Just got home from the game. Had a great view of the tackle looked a clear red card to me! As for fouls forest were terrible should have had more yellow cards than they got. Great result....our defence can get us promotion
.rock solid and another clean sheet

Idiot.

The amount of time wasting by their own goalie at every goal kick was incredible. First he'd put the ball down whilst two defenders went either side of the box. then he'd look to play a short kick to the edge of the box until he realised we were marking everybody.

Then he'd kick it long to Bennett's side every time - waste of time. Towards the end they must have forgotten they were losing as they seemed happy to take the ball into the corner whilst making little attempt to get it into the middle.

It was clear that Warburton wants his team to play the ball out from the back and play lots of neat passes but like Leeds under Monk last season and Wolves away this season they can't cope when they're put under pressure and faced with a team who aren't going to stand around admiring them fannying about with the ball.

And I'm sure if Forest were winning 2-0 away they'd be rushing to take every free kick and throw in and all of their substituted players would race off the pitch so that their opponents would have an opportunity to get back in the game.

Bollocks Warburton - join the list of moaning, whining, sore losers who've been outplayed this season.

Knob.
