So Whitts disappears for £2.5 million - Koumas, Drinkwater, Heaton and possibly Naylor are all free to play as the embargo is lifted and HMRC are paid - would we be in better shape than last year ?

I think you will find all 3 are allowed to sign anyway with permission from the FA.

yes I was under the impression we could sign 3 new players so heaton, drinkwater & koumas to sign, and whittinhgham to stay, happy days!!

Whitts won't be staying - we aren't going to be able to accomodate him and Koumas in a starting eleven unless Chops is going and then we play a 4-4-1-1 with
Marshall
McNauts
Gerrard
Blake
Matthews
Whitts
Drinkwater
Rae
Burkey
Koumas
Bothroyd

While I agree he might not have a season like the last I think fans are a bit harsh on him just because he doesn't run around a bit like a headless chicken.
His goal scoring record was amazing last season, add to that him hitting the post 9 times and getting ten assists... Quite an achievement.
Personally I'd keep witts over JK but as mentioned above if we need the money it makes sense.
Witts would leave with my thanks though.

Whitts had an exceptional year last season BUT HE WENT MISSING IN WEBLEY WHEN WE NEEDED HIM THE MOST ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS!!!!!! Dave Jones knows this and is moving to put those problems to bed

not just at wembley take away goals scored from penalties gutless in a tackle doesnt go past players enough turns back too often but i am worried that koumas can go missing in a battle but great flair and awareness

i find it hard to beleive that people are doubting whits, with his goals, assists and the amount of times he hit the post last year he was alot more valuable than many make out,he may not run around 100 mph and make crunching tackles but take away the goals and im sure he was still the most successful midfield player in the league

How many pens did he score?
I bet his goal return is still very very good for a wide player?
Also the fact he hit the post 9 times shows his previous goals were hardly flukes.
Then you throw in his 10 assists and people think it wouldnt be to hard to replace him for around 1m...I think some people are in dreamland I really do.

Can he do it 2 seasons in a row though? Does anybody have any stats on him for the season before last ?

He was poor at wembley, along with most of our lot. He did contribute 2 assists in that game though. Even when he was having anonymous games last year we could still rely on his set pieces being up to standard and popping up with key passes or goals.
If we do lose him then koumas has big boots to fill imo(going by last seasons form).

He was poor the season before. He was also played on the right hand side with ledley/
Parry playing on left. I'd say he's worth the risk of losing him for nothing, a twenty goal a season midfielder is a rarity in any league.

who knows?
But if we work on the basis of selling a player everytime they have a good season we are never going to build anything here are we. He has clearly been working on his game and has improved and I see no reason what so ever that he cannot perform to a high level next season. I doubt he will get as many goals but thats a big ask anyway.

People forget that if it wasn't for Whitts we wouldn't even have been at Wembley his winner away to Leicester was absolutley cruicial. People mention take away his penalties but Whitts scored a lot of goals from open play includung a number of headers and it was noticeable how often he was getting into the box a lot more last year.
So personally i would hate to see him go as i reckon he's good for at least another 15 plus goals this season plus his assists are invaluable he his probably the most naturally talented player at our Club but his work rate still needs improvement. The bottom line however is if he does not sign a new contract we can't afford to let him go for nothing and maybe we have to cash in but in my opinion that as got to be for a minimum of 2.5m don't let him go cheap and preferably don't let him go at all.
If the Malaysians really want to see a return on their investments then keep the players we have add in the quality of players like Koumas, Naylor and i would love to see someone like Jason Roberts up front then we would be in with a real shout of promotion

If Whitts joins Forest, then they will certainly be in better shape than last year and they finished 3rd remember!
