It seems that just about every roundabout is having traffic lights fitted on them,no matter how big or how small.Im not a big fan to be honest and it does my head in when the roads are quiet and your stuck at a red light.
Are roundabouts gonna be a thing of the past and we go with a USA type intersection instead.

Lots of places on the east coast of the USA are installing roundabouts ( traffic circles they call them) rather than lights but here on the west coast there's hardly any. Every time I'm stuck at a light (often) when it's quiet the first thing that I think is " this wouldn't happen if there was a roundabout" but lights seem to be much more efficient when it's busy and any new or resurfaced streets seem to have sensors which change the lights in your favour if its quiet.I'm sure most americans feel the same way you do in the other direction because they really have no idea what to do if they do come across a roundabout. Just don't get me started on 4 way stops !

I find it extremely annoying that so many people either don't know how to indicate on a roundabout or are just to lazy to do so.

I take the scenic route, (via Cathays, Allensbank Road, Heath Park Avenue, Heathwood Road, and the Philog, to get from town to Whitchurch, rather than go through the Gabalfa roundabout or flyover!
