Undone by a long throw.

Oh the irony!

Foe goodness knows how many seasons now we've been relying on long throws as one of our most used methods of attack. As soon as the ball goes out for a throw anywhere near the opposition penalty area up steps Gunnar or Morrison, or Halford, or Paterson and with no imagination whatsoever, the ball is launched usually towards a static Morrison standing on the goal line.

Inevitably, he's surrounded by two or three defenders and the ball is cleared easily.

Can anyone remember when we last scored from one of these long throws?

Yet today we concede way too easily to a player who is actually running and attacking the ball rather than standing still and waiting for the ball to land on his head.

Here's an idea - TRY A SHORT THROW FOR A CHANGE!!!! Who knows, it might actually work. And if we must persist with a tactic that has a success rate of virtually nil, try attacking the ball for a change.
