' NEIL WARNOCK TODAY UPDATES BELOW CARDIFF CITY FANS ' :thumbright: :bluebird:

Here are the key talking points from Neil Warnock’s press conference.

Aron Gunnarsson and Kenneth Zohore have completed light training sessions yesterday, and could return at Ashton Gate.

Warnock admits he was disappointed with the crowds for the home games against Millwall and Ipswich but expects the fans to enjoy themselves tomorrow.

The Cardiff boss admitted it was tough to persuade the club’s hierarchy to sign Omar Bogle, but added that the striker’s progress has been impressive since he moved to South Wales.

NEIL WARNOCK:

Team news update

"We’re training after this press conference so I don’t know. Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson were going to do some work, they both trained lightweight yesterday, so let’s see what happens."

"Gunnars knows what he’s like and Ken is a bit different. His pain threshold is a bit less than Gunnars. Bennett’s out but the good news is everyone should be back by the end of this break, including Kadeem. He’s a couple of weeks away. We’re optimistic that we’ll have a good bill of health.”

Lee Tomlin pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 80 hours community service and fined.

Neil Warnock on Tomlin's court sentence:

'It has just emerged that Lee Tomlin has been sentenced to 80 hours of community service for his role in a nightclub brawl that happened before the playmaker joined the Bluebirds."

Neil Warnock:

"I always look forward to Bristol City. I always get such a warm welcome at Ashton Gate, which is a lovely ground. It's strange really because we're second in the league and I think we'll be underdogs given the way they're playing and the team they beat - Fulham - and they've beaten Premier League clubs to get Man United in the next round of the cup."

"I quite like the challenge of going there and trying to come away with a result."

Warnock responds to Leroy Rosenior's comments

Neil Warnock:

"I wouldn’t use the word as nice as ‘detest’ to be honest. "

"I’ll take that as a compliment really, if that’s all they do! But we do have a good laugh. I’ve only been upset with them once after a few thick yobbos had a go after a playoff semi final coming off the pitch. I don’t mind general flak, that goes with the job really. I enjoy that part.”

Warnock on the need for cool heads in the derby

"I do ask our fans to behave themselves" :thumbright: :bluebird:

NEIL WARNOCK ASKED VINCENT TAN:

"When I asked Vincent Tan and the board about Bogle, it was hard to explain that he’s probably going to be third choice, and it was a bit of an investment."

Cardiff City's Lee Tomlin & ex Bristol City Star

NEIL WARNOCK:

Warnock on Tomlin's return to Ashton Gate

"It’s a relief for him (going back), something like that’s got to be on your mind. We’ve had many chats over the last few weeks. Last time he was in court, it affected him. I haven’t spoken to him since the verdict."

"It was good for both parties that he left. The manager and him didn’t see eye to eye and these things happen. I’ve had players here that I didn’t really get on with and I managed to move them on. Their club has moved on now, they’ve got a new squad of players and Lee has come to us. He knew it’d be hard to establish himself in the team, with the way we play, but we’ve seen him wait for his opportunity and grasp it against Ipswich."

"He ran out of steam but I’d rather that than him try and pace himself and become a passenger. He scored against us last year and he’s always capable of doing something different.”

Has Lee Johnson been stirring the pot?

Neil Warnock:

"I don’t worry about what other managers would say. A reply from me would only sell newspapers.”

LEE JOHNSON SPEAKS

Bristol City Manager Lee Johnson:

“Brian Tinnion has shown me his goals against Cardiff as well; I’m not sure my one-yard tap-in features on many banners though!
“The players have the chance to become a hero - to do that we’re going to have to work extremely hard as a team.
“Cardiff are a good side in good form and above us in the table. We feel we’ve been doing well, so for a team to be four points ahead of us, it shows how strong they are.
“It will be a tough game but we hope that being at home can swing it in our favour.”

' WARNOCK AND TOMLIN '

Cardiff completed the double over City last season with a 2-1 win in Wales, followed by a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Ashton Gate.
In the opposition dugout will be Neil Warnock, who boasts 37 years of managerial experience. He also has former City attacker Lee Tomlin in his ranks, following his summer switch across the Severn.

Johnson added: “We know what to expect. They will be physical and the ‘ball in play’ stats are amongst the lowest in the division.
“They’ve also got some very good individual players high up the pitch, so we have to be on our guard defensively to snuff out that danger.
“At the other end we need to bright and lively to penetrate their defence.
“Lee Tomlin is now a Cardiff player and we’ll treat him like any other player that comes back. The focus is always on winning the game, but after the game it will be good to see him.”

Neil Warnock on Bristol City

Neil Warnock:

"They’re’ always fabulous games, aren’t they. Yes I get some stick but I think it’s a fabulous stadium and a fabulous club. Steve Lansdown has done an amazing job over the years.. Coming from Cornwall as I do, I think he’s been a shining light in the West Country. And our club is a fabulous club, full of passion and the Welsh drive that they’ve got."

"We’re going into it slightly as underdogs, the form that they’re on. But I think that’s even better for us. We know we’ve got to be on our game to be able to compete with them, the way they’re scoring. They knocked three Premier League clubs out of the cup and have got Man United in the next round.”

Warnock on the need for cool heads in the derby

NEIL WARNOCK:

"We’ve got a top class referee in charge and we’ve had some poor referees, I’ve not seen such a deterioration in the standard in Championship for many years. In derbies you can’t say ‘keep quiet and calm down’, you’ve got to feel the passion, wow! The fans and the managers feel the passion."

"I’m glad it’s an early kick off, anything less likely to keep trouble to a minimum. I do ask our fans to behave themselves. Both clubs are doing so well, we don’t need to be reporting on a minority of our fans. We want to report on the good things that happen.”

Lee Tomlin pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 80 hours community service and fined.

It emerged from Leicester Crown Court this Friday morning that the former Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth forward had been sentenced with 80 hours community service and fined for his part in a nightclub fight that left a man with a badly broken jaw.

Neil Warnock on Tomlin's court sentence

'It has just emerged that Lee Tomlin has been sentenced to 80 hours of community service for his role in a nightclub brawl that happened before the playmaker joined the Bluebirds."

"It’s been difficult because it happened when he was at Bristol City, we’ve had to be there for him even though we weren’t directly involved. But it’s given me the opportunity to speak to the players and say ‘on my watch I don’t expect anything like this to happen."

"We’ve got a responsibility. If I hit out at everybody who’d had a go at me, I’d have 50 years in prison by now."

"You’ve got to curb your temper. Yes sometimes the abuse is difficult, but you’ve got to walk away, especially with social media and everyone else."

"Players have got to think twice before they put themselves in a situation where you could go out and put themselves in a situation where you could get into trouble. They’ve got to eliminate themselves from that.”

Warnock on the crowds against Millwall and Ipswich

Neil Warnock:

"I was a bit disappointed in the crowds for the two games"

"I thought we would have got more than for the Millwall game on a Saturday and more than we did for our Tuesday night game against Ipswich"

"I know the 3,000 or so who go tomorrow will enjoy it at Bristol.”

"I do ask you all to behave tomorrow" :thumbright: :bluebird:

Warnock on Bogle and Ward

NEIL WARNOCK:

"When I asked Vincent Tan and the board about Bogle, it was hard to explain that he’s probably going to be third choice, and it was a bit of an investment."

"I’d rather that than a 34-year-old on three times his wages. I thought he did well on Tuesday and even Danny Ward did well, he could have had two in 20 minutes when he came on."

"It couldn’t have worked out better in terms of my explanation on why we needed (Omar) Bogle, on Tuesday night. The Championship is relentless, you do need it. If you want to be successful you need those options.”
