Crowd last night

Wed Nov 01, 2017 3:31 pm

Terrible support last night when we could have gone top. Only 15,951 including 450 Ipswich
yet Sunderland near the bottom 26K
Leeds who have lost 5 of their last 6 games 28K

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=189577

WHY
Come on people of South East Wales get behind the team and the club. Where are you. Our support is crap. :bluebird: :banghead:

Sunderland & Leeds are big clubs compared to Cardiff. Plenty of other threads already on here concerning our gates. Nothing more that can be done, we are what we are and have to accept that this is not one of the big football league clubs.

Last season was 7th best average attendance in 45 years. This season is already seeming busier down CCS so could be top 5 attendance in 46 years. Yesterday we had the 5th biggest home attendance in the Championship.
I'm not quite sure what you were expecting but a combo of half term and Halloween was hardly going to be a big seller.

A lot of people seem to assume we should be getting 25k every week yet there is no sense or evidence to support those figures.
Come New Year if we are still top 3 we will get 20k+ every game :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Last night I solely put the low crowd down to Halloween it's a pure family night.

Matches should not have been on last night.

I do from now on expect at least 20,000 plus in future home games, we have now played 15 League games and are serious promotion contenders :bluebird:

Wayne to go comparing us to Leeds and Sunderland.

Go and have a look at QPR, Hull and Reading.

League position means nothing until the new year.

Re: Crowd last night

Wed Nov 01, 2017 4:14 pm

Pointless comparing us to Sunderland and Leeds or villa and Sheffield Wednesday for that matter.

I do agree though, it should have been a couple of thousand higher last night.

Have to say that despite the apparent low crowd for a team playing at the top of the Championship, those who were there were as vocal as I've heard for some time and it was a pretty good atmosphere. Credit to them and 'unlucky' to those who stayed away and missed a great team performance from the Bluebirds! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

I didn't go last night for a few contributing factors, namely I didn't finish work till 5pm getting home to Blackwood for 5.45pm, also Saturday was an absolute bore fest so wasn't exactly inspired to finish work early, bomb home then try and negotiate the bollox up that is the cedar tree roundabout/Tredegar House roundabout bollox up and so on. Sometimes, somethings gotta give and this week it was the City. Then again, I paid for my season ticket so they didn't miss any of my financial support and probably by missing this one I will be a little bit more eager after missing what appears to be a good game.

Problem is people have parties for Halloween, kids what to go to them and parents generally have to take them. The crowed would have been even lower in reality as I know a few season ticket holders who didn't go.

At the end of the day people will go if they want to and feel it's a fair price for how much they will enjoy it. People have lots of reasons for not going to games.

How you can compare us to Leeds and Sunderland is absolute beyond me to be honest.

Sunderland obviously don't have haloween/family night in their area just football.Brentford next up cant go my excuse I'm allergic to bees.

What's the difference between an excuse and a reason?

You seem to think people have to go to games

Conveniently forgets that Sunderland have spent 15 of the last 18 seasons in the Premier League and that their crowds have dropped by 17,000 since last season but hey they are the model we should aspire to.

I should ignore but if it's one post that's more repetitive and annoying than any it's this one, I said walking out the focus will be on the crowd not Tomlins deft touches, bogles work ethic or pattersons obvious talent and desire. Comparing us to northern giants?!? Secondly it's Halloween, my boy is just two so this year it was ccfc but from here on in I wouldn't dream of going to the football on Halloween. Can go to the football anytime.

Bring Bristol and bring on promotion because poor crowds or big crowds we are contenders with this squad. The fact is it's not a poor crowd but statistically not far off come end of season. Stop moaning.

Re: Crowd last night

Why? Halloween didn't affect the crowds at man Utd Norwich etc.

Some moaners in the world mind especially on football forums. If we win the opposition we're poor and the crowd was rubbish, if it's a big crowd the atmosphere is bad. Can't make it up. Loved it last night.

Re: Crowd last night

Wed Nov 01, 2017 6:14 pm

Let's say it as it is who thought Cardiff v Ipswich on Halloween night with a 6 hours trip for the away fans was a great idea? You couldn't make it up. That fixture should have been a Sat game not a Tuesday night game. Absolute joke.

Re: Crowd last night

Wed Nov 01, 2017 6:19 pm

I blame the change back to blue. In our promotion season, in red, every home league game had over 20,000! :o

They were also the quietest 450 away fans I’ve heard in a while. Even when they scored they were quiet!

well done on comparing us to 2 of the biggest clubs in the championship who have had years and years of top flight football.

Leeds as a city has double the population of Cardiff by the way.
