You're talking like they are locals who should have knowledge. People from all over the UK came to Cardiff for the fight, people even flew in from abroad for it. I know people who travelled from Birmingham to see Micky Flanagan.
Maybe just maybe they Didn't want to pay the ridiculous rip off hotel prices Cardiff hoteliers put up when an event is on so stayed outside of the city thinking a Capital city could cope.
Don't blame the people 5 hours is ridiculous blame Arriva trains for cancelling trains, blame cabbies who again were picking fare and asking for 40-50quid upfront.

The taxi we got in to town said they wernt taking any bookings later. We started walking back to the bay and ended up hijacking a minibus taxi with a few young lads in - the driver was charging from £40 to get back to penarth. The whole situation is a joke really, we're obviously not set up for this kind of event are we... I wonder how many of those people will be rushing back to Cardiff or telling they're friends not to come here for events!

Put on more trains for a few hours either side of the event and that would go a long way to solving the problem surely? I don't think taxis are to blame here either, although as far as I'm aware if you agree a fare before you get in the car then they aren't legally obliged to run the meter? Correct me if I'm wrong though.
People should have just stayed out all night and caught the first train home in the morning, I'd rather do that than stand in the cold for 5 hours waiting for a taxi

Train situation was known before fight was arranged! So you travel from somewhere to Cardiff but dont arrange or know how you are getting Home? Would you go to paris and not know how you are getting Home? Dont think soas for hotels name me one city who do not set premium for such occasions? Besides you've blamed everyone except the traveller who should know every aspect of their trip before they travel.

Lol OK somebody in London. Glasgow or Dublin would have known about the train situation. First off big fight fans clamber to get tickets straight away they don't have the luxury of checking local train engineering works lol.
You haven't told me how somebody travelling to a major city that has hosted several big events would know or expect 5 hour cues for taxis. I've travelled extensively around the world and never experienced anything like it.
I'm frankly amazed you can blame the traveller for a city's infrastructure not being able to cope.

Taxis can not cope if trains dont run during big events..its not new and not just in Cardiff..if youd been to a medium sized event on your extensive travels that coincided with trains not running or an underground strike youd realise this..
of course you might not have noticed because you were on vinces bus .![]()

So by your understanding every major event in city the infrastructure hasnt been able to cope? After all we had euafa final, pop concerts all with 70k+ fans and with late finishes what happened then? And don't forget it was a Saturday night a very late finish night clubs closing how many taxis do you think it take to satisfy demand? 500 a 1000? Love to know what you think taxis could do to facilitate 5k 10k 20k people all at once or within an 1hour or two of end fight!
