MY VIEW: TODAY WAS ANYONES GAME AT CARDIFF AND EVEN

Sat Oct 28, 2017 3:53 pm

My View/ Opinion

TODAY WAS ANYONE'S GAME AND EVEN THOUGH CITY SHOULD OF HAD A LEAST A GOAL IN THE DYING MINS A DRAW WAS A FAIR RESULT

Cardiff were very slow in the first 25 mins and let Millwall control the game, but as the game went on City finished the stronger.

Second-half it was a very open game and any team could of won it.

A game that lacked quality and City's System did not work.

2ptd dropped

CARDIFF CITY 0 MILLWALL 0
Crowd 18,496
Away Support 1,005 Millwall

Cardiff City Team : Etheridge, Peltier, Bennett, Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bryson, Ralls, Hoilett, Mendez-Laing and Ward.

Subs : Murphy, Halford, Paterson, Feeney, Damour, Tomlin, Bogle.

Cardiff made a sloppy start defensively, and they come close to being punished.

Millwall had the better of the first 25 mins

Cardiff finally got better as the first half wore on and were lucky not to be behind.

In the 37th min an injured Joe Bennett was replace by Callum Paterson.

Cardiff improved vastly and took control of the game.

First Half CCFC 0 MILLWALL 0

A lack of real quality from both sides.

Another Cardiff sub

Danny Ward came off for Omar Bogle in the 65th min.

73rd min Tomlin replaced Bryson.

Game was open at this point, anyone's game.

Tomlin should of had his goal allowed in the 87th min in my opinion

Full-Time CCFC 0 MILLWALL 0

Frustrating and a disappointing performance.

Teams are coming to CCS to kill the game and hope to score on the break. Unfortunately we don't seem capable of breaking them down.

The problem is upfront. That's 4 games where we have not scored in open play.

Annis...that s four games and only one goal and that was a penalty... it needs to be sorted and quickly or we will fall away

We looked very average today. 2 pts dropped

When Derby came and kept a clean sheet a couple of weeks ago I felt City had been found out.

City have been sussed out in my opinion and Warnock needs to change how he sets us up.

Disappointing result and performance today.

We beat Ipswich on Tuesday and most of us will take 4pts from 6. Need that win now.

Lacking upfront

Know what you mean mate. We’re still ok away from home when the onus is on the home side to come at us. We’re also ok when teams come to us and play like there at home I’d imagine.

Promotion is won from the Championship by tight defence. This team is starting to look like Malky Mackays team - dull but hard to beat

Millwall were 15th in the table and for me playing at home to them was 2pts dropped, I did warn fans about Millwall.

Just like Brum did to us, Millwall out Warnocked us today.

The system didn't help. Why play 3 centre backs at home, against Millwall, who have Steve Morison up front, then leave yourself short in midfield?

Danny Ward was very poor. Yes, we lumped it long to him, and didn't play to his strengths, but he didn't give us anything.

Bryson runs a lot but from what I've seen so far I think Damour is far superior.

Paterson was a big plus today. He looks like he can add some real pace and quality!

Ref was abysmal for both teams. Absolutely shocking!

Overall a frustrating day. 0.0 probably fair.

Fair point then I will take a Malky team play if promoted. :thumbright: :bluebird:

Just worried about upfront.

I honestly think Patterson would do a better job than either Ward or Bogle up front.

Agree about Bryson. Don't really see what he offers apart from an engine as not creative or a stopper. Need Gunnar back or try damour as he seems a better passer.

Also backup strikers very limited without zahore.

Don't know why we played 3 CB's against Millwall, but yeah we were poor and only deserved a draw. Hopefully Bennett is ok then we can have Paterson and Bennett as Full backs. Bit worried about the lack of creativity in the final third though.

Afraid Warnock got it all wrong going with three at the back at home.
Peltier is never a wingback and only Paterson looks like one.
Bryson isn't the midfielder we need and I hope Tomlin gets a chance.
We need something different at home, even though that formation might work away.
We kept playing to Millwall's strengths, just as we did with Derby.
Let's get the ball down and play it to Ward's feet...He's better than he seems.

Re: MY VIEW: TODAY WAS ANYONES GAME AT CARDIFF AND EVEN

I thought we offered very little going forward today. If it had not been for poor finishing by their no. 9 and a decent performance from Etheridge, we would have been beaten today. Not scored in open play for 4 games and today showed why. Peltier playing wingback when he gets dizzy crossing the centre line. Both Bamba and Manga poor today and should of been punished for sloppy back passes. Ralls killed every attack by slowing down the play/going sideways or backwards. Bryson can’t remember him touching the ball. Mendez Laing’s passing was atrocious. Repeatedly gave the ball away with flick or back heels. Felt sorry for Hoilett as every ball was pumped up to him high rather than to his feet. Stood no chance against 6’ plus defenders. Same goes for Ward against there no. 35. Did he even win 1 single header? Keep it on the fecking deck!!! Give the man a chance ffs.
After driving another 350 miles to see that performance and another 350 due on Tuesday, the only positives were Patterson, Tomlin (who did more in 10 minutes than many did all game) and Etheridge.
Ref didn’t help matter as he had a shocker and was rightly booed by both sets of fans.

Damour and Tomlin need to return as we lack any invention on the ball.
Need to keep the ball on the floor.
Roll on Tuesday...

I’d go 4-5-1 as much as I like the Three CBs I don’t think our fullbacks get back in time, have Bryson and Gunnar breaking it up and then the usual wingers with Tomlin and Zohore up top

At end of day teams are going to park bus here so need to get use to it! and yesterday we had 3 good chances to score in 1st half! we score game changes and fans wouldn't be so negative.

I wasn't at the game but judging on the comments on here I was surprised to see how many decent chances just shown in the highlights on 5.

There 'keeper made a number of very, very good saves to keep them in it to be fair. One of those goes in and they have to break their two deep banks of four abnd come at us which would have made much more space.

Onwards to Ipswich :ayatollah:

As usual, the comments from many come purely from the result and have little to do with the reality that a little bit of luck here or there might have changed the game...and the mood of the comments that follow! ;)

Missed my first game of the season for work reasons but those I spoke to (plus the Channel 5 highlights) suggested we had the better chances and the Tomlin goal should maybe have stood! :ayatollah:

I think we are still trying to play the same way as we did with Zohore but Ward is a totally different type of player. We aren’t playing to his strengths so I suspect we probably needed another runner in mid field such as damour or tomlin to thread some balls through to run on to. The advantage is also other sides probably wouldn’t be expecting it so much given our game plan with ken.
