Think that's quite good considering the boxing is on later as well. Not everyone can afford to go to both events today.

No Wez, I live in another country and went for 43 consecutive years and by the way NEVER saw you down there for years and you lived near by and never saw you week in week out like I was.

You were a part time fan

At least when we were in Div 4 I never missed a game home or away for 9 years :thumbright: :bluebird:

I fly back every 3-4 weeks just to watch Cardiff now, no matter what the result or the opposition :bluebird:

I support City No matter what, 43 years of season tickets :thumbright: :bluebird:

I don't need wins or big name clubs to go, booked 14 flights back this season :thumbright:

I have now booked flights back for Away games :bluebird:

Don't tell me u went today, City going up to the Premier League Wow :thumbright: :bluebird:

AND YES Wez I watch every City game I can't attend on Tv, etc

I use to go away with City with 11, 50, 150, 200 fans NEVER EVER SAW U ONCE :bluebird:

YOU CAN THROW EVERYTHING AT ME WEZ, I DONT CARE I WAS THERE WHEN CARDIFF CITY REALLY NEEDED FANS NOT GLORY HUNTERS EASY TO SUPPORT A SUCCESFUL TEAM :bluebird:

When you consider our league 18000 is poor .1 million people live within each reach of the stadium alas not as many as I thought are interested in watching the city.

Ok next week Ross, it will be the weather, it will be Xmas, it will be January, it will be Easter , then everyone's on hols.

Ross, lot more City fans went today who don't usually as they wanted to do both the game and the boxing, it was the fair weather fans who never went due to Millwall not a big name club a fact.

Why have we had over 20,000 against other ‘lesser’ clubs then? The Leeds game showed we can sell out if fans can afford it. The boxing tonight has had a negative effect on our attendance imo. I’m convinced we would have had a better attendance if the boxing wasn’t on.

I don't think the boxing had a huge effect on the crowd today, although it may have meant a few hundred or so people having to make a choice. I think the crowd was pretty much what I would expect for a Cardiff Millwall fixture. Quite a few on here predicted a gate of around 18k, and I predicted a crowd of somewhere just short of 20k. I think today's gate reflects the size of this club.

Totally correct.on the bright side clubs like Fulham Wigan and now the jacks have spent many years in the premier with small fan bases that haven't grown at all.i believe we would grow with a few years in the top flight.

I 100% agree with that :thumbright: :bluebird:

Re: Poor home crowd

Sat Oct 28, 2017 5:33 pm

I don't think we've got that many fans even in the Premier League there was only 23000 through the turnstiles v West Brom when we were doing OK.
I believe once the novelty of the premier league wear off we'd only average 25000 at home

Re: Poor home crowd

Sat Oct 28, 2017 5:34 pm

Why is there such an annoyance when excuses are made, whether relevant or not.

The simple truth is that our attendances are poor (if you think they are poor) because not enough people go.

I know that sounds simplistic but its a fact. This is how big our club are. Sorry if some think we are bigger.

People do not go for numerous reasons starting from the big one, no interest, through cost and right down to Annis not being arsed to fly over from Spain. ;) Only kidding mate.

Re: Poor home crowd

Sat Oct 28, 2017 5:43 pm

If they keep on playing like they did today it will go down to 13,000  . It honestly doesn't bother me I went today and I'll be going on Tuesday (people will say they are not going as its Halloween)

Re: Poor home crowd

Sat Oct 28, 2017 6:00 pm

The painful truth( (to some anyway) is that we've never been a particularly well supported club.

Yes, we're more than capeable of pulling off huge one-off followings both home and away - but not consistently imo.

And, because apparently it's relevant, I've been a season ticket holder every season since the year before identity cards were introduced (following the Wales/Yugoslavia game in 1976?) - 42 years or so. Still go to most games, home & away :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Re: Poor home crowd

I don't think it was poor?

600 odd Millwall fans, just under 18,000 home fans, don't forget its only just over a decade ago we were getting 6-7000 and 20 years ago, 3-4,000, the Club has come a long way, it will take years of success at the top level before this Club is at a level that some people want it to be in terms of crowds.

Totally agree I really don't see the obsession with the crowd numbers 18k we are the biggest club in Wales no rugby or football club are getting our crowds our average is around 20 k this year which is great

Out of the 10 home teams today we would have the 5th highest crowd, only just pipped by Fulham by a few hundred who get their gates swelled as apparently everybody takes thousands to Fulham.

Burton tiny club and Preston not massive but QPR, Hull and Reading all had more success than us in recent history, Hull have had 5 of the last 9 season in the Premier League but we are getting more than them, QPR 3 of the last 6 seasons in the Premiership and had 19 seasons out of 23 in the top division from the 70's to mid 90's.

The teams that had more are simply bigger than us, Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland massive Clubs who have barely been out of the top two divisions in their entire history with 10 League titles between them, Norwich barely out of the top two divisions in recent history and Fulham recently off the back of 13 straight years in the Premiership.

When you weigh it all up, we are doing ok and it will ONLY get better with continued success at the top level.

I do agree Fans can't go every week, but we have a 260,000 fan base registered so asking for 20,000 is nothing.
