BREAKING: " NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS "

BREAKING ZOHORE OR GUNNARSSON WILL NOT BE PLAYED AGAINST MILLWALL.

The main talking points

Warnock revealed he wouldn’t taken a risk on the injured Kenneth Zohore or Aron Gunnarsson

He responded to transfer links with free agent Rolf Feltscher

He laid down a marker to Craig Bryson and Joe Ralls to cope without Gunnarsson... and get more open play goals

Lee Camp will be a further three weeks out after an injury set back

...and the manager covered everything else: from Millwall to the Anthony Joshua fight. Scroll down to read everything he said.

Updates on Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson’s injuries

NEIL WARNOCK:

"They’re doing light training, but I don’t think they’ll do enough to push for Saturday. I’m not convinced."

"You just don’t know with Gunnars, he could play anytime, but I don’t want to play if he’s not right and I’ve told him that."

"Zohore is still a bit tender, he did some light work, but with three games in a week and then two weeks off, I don’t think we should jeopardise anything longer-term even though I know they’re important games."

NEIL WARNOCK ON LEE CAMP:

"His knee is perfect but he’s had a bit of a groin issue for the last three weeks."

NEIL WARNOCK:

" Cardiff City Fans can make the difference against Millwall"

"Vincent and Mehmet are the people who I work for but it’s my own pride I work for at my age really. I’d look to do well for whatever club, but this is a great club."

Will Bryson stay longer?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Not thought about it yet, it’s October, we’ve got him for the season. He’s like Joe Ralls, low maintenance, you don’t know he’s there but on the pitch he’s a credit to you, conducts himself well off the field. Smashing lads, I think they both enjoyed the challenge without Gunnars last week, to fill that gap."

" I wasn’t sure they could do what I wanted them to do but they did it admirably."

Will Warnock improve his squad in January?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"The chief scout has got nowt to do at the minute!"

"We’re looking to improve the squad, but it’s a difficult one, because if I had this squad till end of season I’d be quite happy. It’s awkward looking to January what we might need. We’ve still got lads like Omar (Bogle) and (Lee) Tomlin want to impress and are flying in training, it must be frustrating for them, but they are important. You won’t do well for a full season in championship without a good squad."

"We had a good XI last year but not a good enough squad. Now I think we have and we can more or less cater for every position which is what you look for as a manager."

" Cardiff City Fans can make the difference against Millwall"

"Vincent and Mehmet are the people who I work for but it’s my own pride I work for at my age really. I’d look to do well for whatever club, but this is a great club."

"The fans are fabulous, we’re going to need them in the next couple of games. No disrespect to Ipswich and Millwall but not they’re not as glamorous as some we’ve played and are probably more difficult. I expect a tough game, not going to be a classic by any means."

"Neil Harris has done a great job down there, a young up and coming manager with a great group of hard working players who are very difficult to play against. We know what to expect and we will need patience and that’s when the fans come in, they can make a difference by the noise they make."

Will Millwall set up to earn a point?

Neil Harris has been very complimentary about his opposite number, but does that mean Millwall will show Cardiff respect and set up to grind out a point?

NEIL WARNOCK"

"I think they’re better than that and have more ambitions than just staying in the division. I read a few comments from Neil over the last few weeks about how people might have expected them to be in the bottom two or three but his lads have really responded. I don’t think they’re dissimilar to us when I first came to the club."

"They’ve got a togetherness, ability in the wide players and Morison up front who I had at Leeds who is a very good pro, always likely to score and you don’t want to play against him because you know you’ve been in a match."

"There’s different challenges from different departments and that’s why it’s important the fans turn up. We’ve earned that right to get a good crowd and get them behind us and it might be the difference."

Millwall boss Neil Harris

NEIL WARNOCK:

The Bluebirds are sweating on the fitness of key players, such as Aron Gunnarsson and Kenneth Zohore though, with Warnock providing an update on both men at his weekly press conference.

NEIL WARNOCK ON KENNETH ZOHORE:

"Zohore is still a bit tender, he did some light work, but with three games in a week and then two weeks off, I don’t think we should jeopardise anything longer-term even though I know they’re important games."

Neil Warnock on Gunnarsson and Zohore fitness

First question for the main man now, and how Aron Gunnarsson and Kenneth Zohore are faring on their road to recovery. This is what Warnock said...

NEIL WARNOCK:

"They’re doing light training, but I don’t think they’ll do enough to push for Saturday. I’m not convinced."

"You just don’t know with Gunnars, he could play anytime, but I don’t want to play if he’s not right and I’ve told him that."

CRAIG BRYSON:

"We had to bounce back at Boro because no-one played well against Birmingham. The gaffer gave a chance to pretty much the same side and we got a good result."

"Millwall work hard and chase every ball and if we can match work-rate and desire hopefully our quality will come through."

The on-loan midfielder has been asked how he is settling into Cardiff City life...

"Everyone in football knows about the gaffer. He’s a character and had a lot of success."

'The two months I’ve been here he’s been excellent. How he sets his team up, how he looks after players, I only have good things to say. He gets everybody on-side and everybody in dressing room wants to do well for him. Even those not in side have that desire."

NEIL WARNOCK ON LEE CAMP:

"His knee is perfect but he’s had a bit of a groin issue for the last three weeks."

"We thought it was because it was him not kicking for so long. We saw someone and we thought he might need a minor operation to release the tension in it, but then he pulled his thigh. That’s going to take three weeks, so we thought he might as well see the surgeon and he’s had the little nick in the groin he needed, so it will take the same amount of time."

"The poor lad because he’s desperate to be playing again and it’s frustrating for him. Same as Kadeem who’s flying in the gym but that’s two good players to come back."

Can Cardiff do it without Zohore and Gunnarsson?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"If you had a choice to pick the players who were No.1 or No.2 in your team it would be those two. I don’t worry so much now."

"We knew on Friday and when I was younger I used to worry and panic and not sleep at night and all sorts. Whereas now I just see it as an opportunity now, that it’s what’s meant to be and get on with it. We worked hard on the system without those two and it paid off and we did well, looked comfortable and played some good football at times at a difficult place to go."

Neil Warnock on Rolf Felstcher

The Bluebirds have been linked with Rolf Felstcher, a free agent defender, by some media outlets this week. This is what Warnock says...

NEIL WARNOCK:

"He’s been here this week, we looked at him. We’re talking to him. He flies back home today but we’ve had a good look at him. He was recommended to me by Harry Redknapp."

"If we thought improved squad we’d have a look at it, but at the moment we’re getting games out of the way and we won’t be doing anything in near future. He’s a free agent so we could take him straight away if we wanted to."

"We’re looking at couple of lads, a couple of young ones as well. We’re trying to supplement the U23s at the moment. I think we need three or four lads in I’ve mentioned to the chairman and Vincent Tan is supportive as well."

Neil Warnock in discussion with Vincent Tan

27/10/17

"I had the longest conversation with Vincent this week because he was over the moon after Boro. He rang me three times on the night and once in the morning!"

"It’s trying to explain to him you can’t have 15 shots every game, some games are like a game of chess and you might only get three or four, it’s fought a bit more tactically. It’s just explaining the strategy sometimes."

"I like loads of shots and the stats say that we have more than most. Everybody’s positive at moment."

Will Bryson stay longer?

The on-loan midfielder was talking about how well he’s settled in at Cardiff... so could he be signed on a permanent deal?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Not thought about it yet, it’s October, we’ve got him for the season. He’s like Joe Ralls, low maintenance, you don’t know he’s there but on the pitch he’s a credit to you, conducts himself well off the field. Why doesn't Warnock watch penalties?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I’ve done it almost all my career. I couldn’t take one either. I wouldn’t criticise anyone for missing one because I wouldn’t have the guts to take one, I haven’t got the bottle."

"It takes a certain man, cold-hearted, coolness, whatever. I’d just panic myself whenever I got near one and I’m the same now. I don’t enjoy them. I think I watched one years ago and they missed it and I’ve not watched one since."

How does Ralls compare to Whittingham as a penalty taker?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Peter was exceptional, the best I’ve ever seen I think. James Beattie was like that, I don’t think he missed one. Le Tissier the same, just so cool and calm. But it’s about time one of those two (Ralls and Bryson) got a goal in open play soon."

Re: BREAKING: " NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS "

Three big games coming up?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Absolutely. We set stall out before the first one and the November one, we always said if we could be in the top six… but we’ve raised our expectations and we want to be in the top four if we can. The win on Saturday after defeat cemented that. We need as many points on board from these three, they all pose different problems, but they’re problems the lads are looking forward to."

"They’re a good group, every day I see lads not in side trying to push in and the ones in the side are trying to keep them out.
It’s a good atmosphere at the moment."

How to make CCS a fortress

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I think it’s going to take an off-day like at Preston or Birmingham or a very good side to beat us — but that’s home and away. Yes, you win your home matches which is great to know you can do that, but away from home is important as well. I think we’ve learned a bit from Preston and Birmingham away from home and we showed that at Middlesbrough. We can’t just go gung-ho because nobody’s good enough to do that in the Championship."

"You have to be a little bit more organised. Whereas at home, I want to enjoy the football and the lads to enjoy it. We won’t win every game, but I want us to have a go and look at different ways of doing that. It’s a really good challenge for managers the Championship this year."

Lessons learned from Birmingham loss

NEIL WARNOCK:

"It was unique because they had six changes and changed the forward line, which is unusual because you normally know what you’re coming up against. I think we were 1-0 down before we could do anything. We couldn’t change it. But I think if we had the same game again I don’t think the same outcome would happen."

"I think we learned from Preston too, you learn all the time. The objective in the Championship is when you have a bad result you bounce straight back."

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I like Joshua. I think he’s proved you don’t have to do or say silly things at weigh-ins to become a world champion. He can be a nice man and get on with the job, and I like that."

Warnock loving the AJ fight and Cardiff

"I thought about going but it’s difficult when you’ve got a match. It’s good for the city. I’ve been surprised how good the city in general is. It’s a very forward-looking, buzzing city."

"Everything, the entertainment, theatres, restaurants, everything is buzzing. At a time where money’s tight and there’s a lot of negative stories around the country but here I don’t see anything but plusses. I think it’s a wonderful place to be at the moment, exciting and vibrant - which fits in with how my football team are playing."

All very positive from the manager and hopefully his enthusiasm will rub off on those who are still only 'thinking' of renewing their match day association with the club! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

' Neil Warnock on. Injuries to Zohore, Gunnarsson, Camp and Harris '

And how about Lee Camp?

His knee is perfect but he’s had a bit of a groin issue for the last three weeks.
