What do you think the crowd will be on Saturday, I’m going for 18,500. Second in the league we should be getting 24,000

A bit over 19,000 I reckon. Can't see Millwall bringing many down, maybe 800-900? Not sure on their away support tbh

Darren, Prob be about 18,500-19,000 incl about 800-1,000 Millwall.
It should be 25,000 plus.

I find it strange how being second in the table and we are not getting larger crowds, surely people cannot be still be peed off about the re-brand etc?

We only have 13k ST holders so at present we are getting ave 5k walk up crowd which is good so far, and it will undoubtedly increase after xmas with half season ST sold! And it is an increase on last season so far

Getting a bit tedious week after week. If Cardiff go up as champions they will have a higher average than malkys team, fact. Is that not progress? A year ago we were looking at 13,000 max. We haven't had fans built on generations of success, by that I mean continuous top flight football.

Growing up the crowds we get now we're a fantasy. Loving every minute this season.

I totally disagree.

The away support coming to Cardiff is higher and secondly, City on the pitch are getting results which we could only dream about and have been top of the Championship for periods and City's prices are fantastic, I paid for my daughter aged 12 and myself £23 :thumbright: :thumbright: and Season ticket prices £50/£99 etc have been superb by our club :thumbright: :thumbright:

Our Club has done everything they can to get crowds back, We have 260,000 on our datebase they need to turn up more often.
Not once we are a Premier League club, to watch the opposition.

Personally I think are home crowds are very very poor and should be at least 24,000 plus.

I don't think it's about still being "peed off", just a lot of fans who became disillusioned during the rebrand and stopped attending (myself included) may not have chosen to return. And that's Tan's fault, some of it will never be undone.

All I can say to those people is that renewing my season ticket since we went back blue was the best thing I've done and (particularly since Warnock came in) the passion/buzz I get on matchdays is every bit as good now as before the rebrand.

Even if we stay in the top 2/3 for the rest of the season we will probably still only average about 21-22,000 over the season.. no use complaining about it.. that's what size of club we are.

What I will say is this year we are turning up in bigger numbers and making more noise.. so whichever you look at it it's getting better

I agree with you. We are getting the sort of crowds that I would expect at this stage of the season and taking into account our league position. If we are still in the fight for promotion after xmas, the gates will increase and we may start getting 22k to 25k. In the meantime we are what we are, this is not a massive club despite what some people seem to think, and I would guess most on here are right about the crowd for the Millwall game, probably just short of 20k.

But a decent sized club at this level, what we do have is the potential to be massive with sustained top flight football. Your burnleys and WBA of the world can't get bigger. Cardiff don't fall in to that, we have a huge floater base that would become regular attendees. Is what it is.

That is something that I have heard constantly for the last 50 years. We have the potential to be massive. The potential may be there, but we have never been anything other than a small to medium size club during my lifetime. Surely the potential is there right now, but even though we have been top two for most of the first quarter of this season, we are still not drawing in the crowds to suggest we are a massive club in waiting. Would be interesting to see what would happen if we could have a few years in the top flight, I honestly have no idea what sort of gates we would get on a regular basis.

It's not awesome Wez, compared to a lot of clubs, but I do agree we should not moan, we've just got admit we are a small club and not what many of us though we were including myself and I personally for many years thought we were a big club, just got to accept it :bluebird:

Correct.we are not a big club just a club in a big area whose fans will turn up when we play "big name" club.hence 27000 against Leeds.Ipswich /millwall just don't have the same pulling power.in my opinion the 3 best supported clubs in Britain are Newcastle Norwich and Portsmouth because they turn up to watch their team rather than just turn up if they are playing someone"big"

We have both been going down long enough to know that although we have a big catchment area, Cardiff City has never been a really big draw for the people of S E Wales. I recall the days of Toshack, Clarke etc., when we pushing for promotion. We had a seriously strong side back then with a lot of talented players, and yet we still only managed around 20k or so, sometimes as much as 25k but sometimes 16k. We are getting similar gates to almost 50 years ago when we top of this division.

I honestly thought though Steve in today's modern world where most clubs crowds have increased home and away we would be getting far bigger crowds, our home support has increased a little bit, but our away support is No better than many Non league/ lower division clubs, some fans say why worry. A club without the fans and the passion of the fans can never be that succesful and even Warnock has stressed so many times how much it means to have big support behind the club. :bluebird:

it is sad as we live in quite a highly populated area. I don't know why we have not been able to attract bigger crowds on a regular basis. I wonder if it's because there are so many local rugby sides in Cardiff and the surrounding valleys. I took a walk up to Llantwit Fardre's rugby ground a few Saturdays back. There were probably around 100 people there, and this is just one of loads of teams participating in a lot of divisions throughout the area. Add this to the stacks of local football clubs in the area, and that could explain some of it. I suppose every other team has the same sort of competition, but we are situated right in the middle of an area known for it's rugby rather than it's football.

Rugby Being bigger than Football in Wales is a myth as Cardiff has the second most registered park football sides in England and Wales with people playing on Sat or Sunday .
I think it's a thing in Wales where everyone just turns up two or three times a year for big events, they struggle to do it on a regular basics.
