You have voted for Neil Etheridge as your man of the match against Derby County.
The goalkeeper won the vote with 31 votes out of the 87 cast. He picked up 36% of the vote.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was second with 26 votes, getting 30% of the poll.
Unsurprisingly, this is Etheridge’s first MOTM this season - having had a poor start to his Cardiff City career up until now.
Next vote is after Birmingham away a week on Friday.
Thanks to all for voting

I think saying he has had a poor start is a very unfair comment. He has made some mistakes but has also made some crucial saves. I don’t worry every time the ball goes near him like some keepers we’ Had in the past. He was brought in to be number two keeper and has done well. You don’t get top of the league with a shit keeper.

Very poor comment, shame

My opinion is that while he’s only let in nine goals so far, some of those he could have prevented. He’s also made mistakes which haven’t led to goals due to his defenders saving him or poor shots. His performance at Preston was awful.
Can’t see him staying in the first team for long, when Lee Camp is back to full fitness.

He has done very well for us saved us against Derby and other games and did a great double save against Leeds that could have got us more worried lol
Yes he had a poor game against Preston but he is a good keeper and young I agree his kicking can improve but when have we had a keeper who could kick well please done say Marshal I will piss myself.

the team performance in preston was awful is the truth,he actually kept us in it for a bit...1st goal//hit from 6 yards...2nd goal went under the wall. third was his poor clearance..3 nil well beaten in all departments..

Etheridge is an excellent GK. I've followed him for a while before he joined us and was delighted when he was signed. In fact, as NW had chosen him, it kind of confirmed what I'd suspected prior, as NW as we know brings in off radar players who he gets performing in his system. Except for Wolves and Preston which I didn't attend, I've studied him at every game and he's a very good GK in all the disciplines of the most specialist and pressurised position on the pitch. Any of us could point out an area that needs to be improved in any player of this top of the league squad. I prefer to focus on the outweighing positives rather than the insignificant negatives that has got us so deservedly here thus far. Well done Neil and keep it going.

It's easy to cling into a few shakey moments of a young keeper stepping up a level.
But why don't we look at the positives and the qualities he possesses?
We talk about letting players grow?
?
Marshall couldn't catch a cold for years. Prehaps we should have dropped him like we did heaton. Can't expect perfection at this level I'm afraid...

A poor start? How many times has Marshall cost us over the years, yet he's still thought of as the best keeper we've had for decades!
Etheridge has made a few mistakes, so did Marshall, so did McGregor last season, so did Alexander etc.
Like our previous keepers, Etheridge is showing to be an excellent shot stopper. But I think Etheridge has more qualities than our previous keepers. Etheridge is not a line keeper like Marshall, McGregor and Alexander.
Etheridge is a very positive, decisive keeper who has saved us countless times already, charging out to save one on ones and coming off his line to command his box to gather crosses and take the pressure off the defense. We never seem to be bombarded with balls into our box when hanging onto a lead now. We don't see our centre backs heading crosses away from deep inside their own box anymore.
Overall, Etheridge's positives far outweigh his negatives. Etheridge has had a good start to the season and he will get better and better when he continues to learn at this level. I believe Etheridge will go on to become a better keeper than Marshall.

the problem i have with the critics is they dont point out areas that think need improving...1st goal at Preston beaten from 6 yards..i could put up litterally thousands of similar goals with top keepers unable to stop them.
coming on here after the Preston game you swear he had thrown them in..
god help when he does have a mare.

I’ve accepted he’s made some decent saves. Some of them have been saves you’d expect a goalkeeper to make at this level.
It’s not just the Preston match that worries me, he’s made more mistakes. Some of them have led to goals, and some haven’t.
It’ll be good to have Lee Camp back in contention after the international break - maybe it’ll make Etheridge up his game as there’ll be stronger competition. If not, I fear he could find himself out of the starting eleven.
