Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock reacts to Derby County draw

Derby Telegraph

Sunday 1st October 2017

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock admitted he was “partly disappointed” to only take a point from their game with Derby County.

The Bluebirds’ boss said their home clash with the Rams – which ended goalless – was “there to be won”.

Bar one Junior Hoilett effort in the first half, though, Cardiff rarely threatened Scott Carson’s goal.

Hoilett took aim from 20 yards and the Derby keeper was forced into a smart stop to tip the ball over for a corner.

Cardiff exerted pressure on the Rams rearguard, but Derby didn’t buckle as Gary Rowett’s men held on for a deserved point.

“I’m only partly disappointed because I thought it was there to be won,” Warnock said. “If we’d have lifted our game a little more we could’ve won it.

“The next best thing is to keep your home record intact and move on. Seven points in a week is a tremendous effort.

“I was slightly disappointed with the first-half, I didn’t think we were on the front foot, but I can’t fault them at all. I thought Junior (Hoilett) was a bit below his usual self and Loic (Damour) but I’m delighted to stay where we are.

“We both (Warnock and Rowett) said at 90 minutes don’t put any time up. Gary’s a good manager. He knows he’s been in a game today and Neil (Etheridge) has put in some good saves.

“You look at their (Derby’s) team sheet and it’s probably the best in the league on paper.”

Cardiff stay top of the Championship after Sheffield United, who started the day in second, lost at Nottingham Forest.

Its true though their squad is awesome and they should be in the mix when Rowlett finds the key.

Lets not forget Loic came from the French second division where i doubt there is the same match intensity and does put some Km's in during a game so perhaps two games in four games is a little bit much at this moment. The same with Junior he is a cheater (animal) of a player and those explosive burst must take it out of you, thus why our super experienced manager loaned feeny, to give him a rest.

I am not sure we can tap into the Bamba magic every week at DCM either.
