Who knows Annis, it has to be significantly improved to cover his debt but I just cant see Ipswich willing to match his City wage.

Richard, I would agree on the Wage, But Surely Keane must know his Wage.

I like Chops as a player, though think he's somewhat over-rated, but why on earth we took the gamble in signing him in the first place beats me. I can't see how he can stay myself and the flipshot of signing Chops is that it put McCormack's nose out of joint so that a £5m asset is now worth peanuts. Yes, he's on the piss all the time and looking porky, but would he be that way were he still the fulcrum of the side? As soon as Chops signed, Ross knew no matter how well he played, or how poorly Chops played, it would be Chops & Jay up front every week, injuries aside. Besides which, we spent £3-4m improving an area (20 goal a season striker) with extremely limited funds in an area that didn't need improving ahead of others that clearly did! I said at the time, Chopra is a huge gamble by Jones (and Ridsdale) to get promotion, if it comes off then great, if not they must take the flak, quite aside from the fiscal ramifications of such a gamble. As I pointed out at the time of signing him, Sheffield United took a similar gamble with Beattie a couple of years ago and had to sell him a year later at a loss to get hm off the wage bill, I believe we have to do the same. My worry, having seen the hot and cold nature of Chops yet again this season, who wold pay £4m for him? Money seems more scarce then ever in the Championship, though someone in this league taking a gamble is his most likely destination, whilst he simply isn't Premiership material for them to get interested.

Another angle on it is that it maybe orders from above to cut our losses and rid of the higher wage earners and yes of course Keane knows the score all to well. Apparently Keane & DJ are quite pally within the horse market.

If we can get £4.5m or more for him with a huge percentage of that up front - then we have to sell. Unfortunately the majority of fans wont be happy with him going. But the financial future of the club is more important than satisfying the fans.

We can get a decent goal-scoring striker in with some of the proceeds from that.
Le Fondre, Charlie Austin or Jordan Rhodes from the lower leagues i reckon could do a job in the Championship.

We'll do well to get around £4m. As for selling on fees, they are highly unlikely in deals like this and more common lower down the leagues or when nominal fees are used. Besides, we don't do sell on fees, Aaron Ramsey anyone?! As for Ross, all good and well in theory, but 2 issues at least. First the aforementioned are unlikely to be that much cheaper, Austin I'm sure being touted for at least £2m, the other being we need tonsell to survive, not to spen millions more replacing them!
