A DISCIPLINED DERBY MADE IT HARD FOR CARDIFF TO BREAKDOWN

CARDIFF STILL STAY TOP OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP :thumbright: :bluebird:

For me this was a totally different game than the Leeds game.

At the end of the game Cardiff were lucky to get a draw as Derby finished the game of the stronger.

A pretty dour first-half by both teams.

CARDIFF CITY 0 DERBY COUNTY 0
Crowd 18,840
Away Support 1,200 approx

Neil Etheridge Lee Peltier Sean Morrison Bruno Manga Joe Bennett Sol Bamba Joe Ralls Loic Damour Junior Hoilett
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing Kenneth Zohore

SUB: Brian Murphy Matt Connolly Greg Halford Lee Tomlin Liam Feeney Danny Ward Omar Bogle

The first 25mins were very low key, no goal mouth action, one shot from outside the box.

Loic Damour shot wide on the 25th min

Pretty dour first-half

Half-time 0-0

Derby hit post 61st min

69th min Lee Tomlin brought on for Damour for some creativity.

71st min shot wide from Joe Ralls

For me a disciplined Derby were making it hard for Cardiff to break down and over all a pretty dour game.,"

Junior Hoillet was replaced by Feeney in the 82nd min.

In view of the other results a good point.

Teams are going to come and defend, we will come again

It took them until 91st min to have a shot on target! Prior to that had 2 shots at goal off target apparently! Can expect more teams to do same but in grand scheme of things a good point. :old:

Not a bad point in the end, keeps us top going into October and the international break.

Sounds like Derby came for a point and that’s what they got. We’ll see a lot of teams do that when they’re away at us, the longer we stay near the top.

Can’t always break them down.

Still unbeaten at home in the league as well.

Tbf it was a dreadful performance by us, just slice of luck the only team to win near us was Wolves

Derby came for the shut out and played it very well. It was always going to take something special to break the deadlock.

MOTM was Etheridge who had nothing to do until injury time where he pulled off 2 good saves.

I think we are going to get quite a few games like this at CCS this season now. I hope our strikers will be able to step up to the challenge and see us through. We will see.

We weren't at the races today but we were still better than Derby draw was probably fair result

basically they came to PARK THE BUS which worked which related in too many long balls from us

hope all other sides that come down here now won't play the same .

on reflection a point was a fair result and still top of the league :bluescarf:

It's not luck that the other teams lost, it's because they weren't good enought to win or draw.

So far we are the best team in the league !!!

We missed Bryson a bit today, still a good draw against a decent team, who just wanted to stop us playing and defended all game.....

They simply out powered us. A back 4, 2 sitters and not much ambition but to catch us on the break......Great away tactics. We didn't have the guile to break it down.

Shame Bryson is one of theirs as he may have made the difference getting closer to Zohore than Damour or Ralls....

1 defeat from 11......wow, just wow.

They came to frustrate us, on another day we may have nicked a goal from something but a draw about right I would say. All in all a good week with the win against Leeds and going into the international break top :occasion5:

Very organised and really frustrated us at times but i think they sussed we will always go to the flanks to create most out chances and it made it hard for holliet and NML at times and when we did get close to thier box and passed in middle we just kept passing in middle bar a shot from bamba and ralls seems like we build play up bit too much without pulling the trigger

I predicted that today, I think Warnock did as well. But a fantastic 7 points in a week and the Cardiff of old would have got beat today. Top going in to the break and one defeat in 11. Can't ask for more than that, Warnock will work on a solution for teams coming to frustrate as it will happen more often.

Not so long ago we were scared to death of Derby county, the 2-0 away defeat under slade was truly painful. Weve come such a long way as a team to be fair.Cant win them all :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Not for me two points dropped in a dire game against an average Derby side,it seemed we took our foot off the pedal after the Leeds game in an anticlimax. These are the games that come the end of season could come back to haunt us.

I thought Derby were an awful side given what they have at their disposal, on another day I think we would have put 3-4 on them. They had nothing going forward, cant see them being any better than mid table this season.

Older squad aren't they, all the players are names, but they didn't do much other than stop us play, and niggly little fouls and dives, half of them looked overweight, but quite a big squad, i still expect them to finish top six to eight.....

There are no easy games in championship every point gained goes towards end goal of promotion! Be games we will win and play badly and the other way around, looking at table tonight no one can complain at situation and points gained.

agree, i thought Derby did really well..they came to disrupt and stop uur forwards 1st and foremost which they achieved..
and could have pinched it at the end..like we have done ourselves in the past.
i think we will see a lot of our vistors attempt the same game plan, i hope with a lot less success.

To be honest annis we did huff and puff but I wasn't to disappointed it has been a good week in all and we are still top going into the international break by a point soon the internationals are over we can all totally focus on the city games without anymore breaks the main thing we didn't lose today as I always say if you can't win the game don't lose it either sol bamba fantastic again today

Spot on mate  Another top week, this team has a real backbone and desire that shines through every game. 11 games in and I can't fault warnock and his players one bit. Being top is fantastic but I just keep my eye on 7th place and hope to keep the gap as big as possible. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

A bit disappointing after the performance on Tuesday, but Derby came with a well drilled plan which we couldn't we couldn't overcome. There will be many more sides coming here with the same type of plan, so we need to look at our play and adapt. I'm sure Neil & his team will find a way. I thought we were looking out on our feet from 80 or so minutes & Playing 2 games a week with our high tempo type game is always going to tell toward the end of the second game, so we need to use our subs wisely. Still, we are still top & 2 points better off at this stage than 4 seasons ago! Onwards we go. This time the international break may do us a favour.
