NEIL WARNOCK BRILLIANT RESPONSE TO QUESTION!

Fri Sep 29, 2017 10:09 am

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock was asked if he was surprised by the club's progress under him?

His response:

"Not really, because I am good!"   :ayatollah: :notworthy:

"You just have to make more decisions right that wrong, I’m the right person at right time at the right club."

"I have the perfect chairman, it’s fallen in right place. The chairman has never let me down, the club - like Neil Sedaka- the fans made it clear they like me, if they don’t want me I wouldn’t be here."

"We worked very hard to get where we are. It wasn’t straightforward. Off the field we were segmented, we weren’t united. I know the staff around the training ground and stadium morale was poor. But over 12 months we’ve done right."

"Ken Choo has been super in helping me change my staff, at the stadium and the field of play with Steve and Vincent has been supportive."

"You don’t do this overnight, 12 months of hard work but enjoyable hard work. I enjoy being the Red Adair, putting the fires out and building the club, showing that you can do when you’re all together."

"Who would have thought 27,000 all getting behind us like that. We have to enjoy the moment, while we’re there, there’s too many depressives in the world, enjoys the ooh and ahhs and the kids asking to come back."

"That’s how I am. Let’s bloody enjoy it.”

Hard to think of a more liked manager , whether we succeed or not it almost does not matter the ride has been such fun

You're so right! :thumbright:

Can you imagine if he were to achieve his/our dream? :occasion5: :ayatollah:

Sadly he's just a Dave Jones style blip away from that quickly changing.

I have confidence it won't happen though. Fingers crossed.

Interesting analogy, but I personally don't agree.

NW management is a lot more "hands on" than DJ ever was. Also NW is much better at man management than DJ. I can think of at least half a dozen players that DJ blew out of City, over the period of his tenure.

Agree! :thumbright:

A surprising comment there from Neil 'maccydee' regarding any similarities between Neil Warnock and Dave Jones. Personally, I never had any major issues with DJ the manager when he was here (mainly because by our standards up to then, he was pretty successful) but Neil Warnock is streets ahead as a manager, as a character and as a unifier! :ayatollah: :notworthy:

There's no real comparison. DJ managed to motivate certain players like Bothroyd, but was diabolical with youngsters such as Matthews and even Rambo. He had no plan B. Warnock is one of the best motivators around and, helped by great staff, is also tactically flexible and adept.

big NW fan since he arrived..but i appreciate what DJ did here too.
different but yet similar....Warnock blew out as you put it pretty much everyone he had no use for..and has signed very similar..dirty dozen type players that have massively under achieved elsewhere and got them playing as did DJ..
hands on..?..not sure what that means tbh..
and fully get where mcdee is coming from..2 defeats and meltdown..

Sorry my point was about the fans being behind him. A blip and that could quickly change.

You could be right, but to be fair, even when DJ went on one of his terrible runs of draws and losses, the fans generally stayed with him and he was a very hard man to like, horrible public personality, nothing like Warnock in that sense

That is true.

"Half a dozen" is being very generous to DJ Rick, I make it well into double figures. DJ's problem was he found management far too easy and thought he could cut corners.

If only he had been as committed as NW he would have really made a name for himself and been a very successful football manager.

i know its only tongue in cheek, but the last thing we need to do is start getting carried away. its a very long season and there is plenty of competition who have better squads than we do. we're not even in october yet.

i think we will struggle after february. we are overly reliant on zohore for a start, so if he gets injured any hopes of promotion go like that, likewise if he is bought in january (which i don't think will happen). i never thought we would have 23 points from 10 at the start of the season, though, so well done to the players.

What I mean is DJ got rid af some very good players at the time, not players who were surplus to requirements,,,, as most managers do at one point or other. Yes he did take us to another level, but we were ultimatly left short in the end.
That home game v Middlesborough when we went 0-3 down after 20 minutes still narks me,,,,,!

Are we over reliant on Zohore? He has only scored 3 goals this season and goals seem to be coming from all over the pitch Bamba, Ralls, NML, Bryson, Hoillett, Morrison, Ward and Pilkington have all chipped in so far.

Also other clubs have injuries as well it's how you deal with them that counts. I'm confident we will adapt if we have to.

Just one example Danny Drinkwater's loan was ended early by DJ. What did that player then go onto achieve?

He obviously hasn’t seen our bench Tomlin can’t get a sniff, we got Ward and Bogle waiting in the wings for when Zohore is out, we also have Patterson yet to make his debut, plus I’m pretty certain come January Warnock will be backed if he’s in the shit due to injuries.
Also got Kads to come back, sorry but exciting times from where I’m sitting
