NW Budget

There's lots of talk about how good the talent we've signed on a small budget is and I agree.

Can you imagine if we get promotion and Tan gives Warnock some serious cash.
We'll sign some very good players IMO.

But if we get promoted , NW wouldn`t be given any cash as he wouldn't be the manager.

Nor me.

I think it's Warnock way of protecting himself as he probably knows the club would look elsewhere.

Also while we may not have spent much on transfer fees Warnock has still been massively backed, good players with new contracts and keeping the likes of Zohore and Morrison.

Much as I like nw could he manage premiership players. He is fantastic at man management and motivating players but how would he manage to do that with a player on 40k plus a week who still picks that up if he plays or not. At the moment he can motivate by saying play well and the big money and clubs will come but how do you motivate a player that is already in the premier.

ive never understood this arguement..money is not the reason any of these boys started playing.generally players just want to do as well as they can and i know quite a few who played /coached /managed /generally stayed involved for nothing having had pro careers.
the dosh is great. but doubt its a big part of anyones team talk or man management.

You do get these types of players, especially in the Premier League. They may not get into the game for the money but money changes people and there's a few players out there who couldn't care less about their clubs or playing, just happy to pick up a pay check. Just read what Darren Gibson said about Sunderland players...

i do agree there is greed..and that there are players that dont care ,not sure there is a threshold that this kicks in at though...is it 500k a year or 2 mill a year..etc.. infact i am sure if you talk to welsh league players on peanuts they will tell you they know of players that dont care at that level.
good man management is more about getting performances out of these sort of players than getting performances out of the low maintenance players.
my point was about motivating a player by saying if you play well big money and big clubs etc. that either works all the way through the system from dai blob in welsh league reserve division 4 to Naymar..or wont work at all.there is no magic cut off point...i think the vast majority of players want to achieve as much as possible and its having achieved and then seeing players who they deem lesser players being rewarded better that brings out the money chasing..

Chris don't you think it's a possibility that Warnock is playing down the whole possibility of leading city in the prem as a tactic to put him in the driving seat if we do go up? He's no fool!
